²³ save others by ^(A)snatching them out of ^(B)the fire; to others show mercy ^(C)with fear, hating even ^(D)the garment^[a] stained by the flesh.

^16 (A)Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save ^(B)both yourself and ^(C)your hearers.

⁴ Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not ^(A)soiled their garments, and they will walk with me ^(B)in white, for they are ^(C)worthy.

^33 (A)Do not be deceived: ^(B)“Bad company ruins good morals.”^[a]

¹⁸ I counsel you ^(A)to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and ^(B)white garments so that you may clothe yourself and ^(C)the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, ^(D)so that you may see.

¹⁰ For ^(A)godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas ^(B)worldly grief produces death. ¹¹ For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, ^(C)what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter. ¹² So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one ^(D)who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.

² And the Lord said to Satan, ^(A)“The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has ^(B)chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this ^(C)a brand^[a] plucked from the fire?” ³ Now ^(D)Joshua was standing before the angel, ^(E)clothed with filthy garments. ⁴ And the angel said to ^(F)those who were standing before him, ^(G)“Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, ^(H)I have taken your iniquity away from you, and ^(I)I will clothe you with pure vestments.” ⁵ And I said, ^(J)“Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord was standing by.

³ For though ^(A)absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. ⁴ When you are assembled ^(B)in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, ⁵ you are ^(C)to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so ^(D)that his spirit may be saved ^(E)in the day of the Lord.^[a]

¹⁵ If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, ^(A)but only as through fire.
