^3 (A)Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our ^(B)common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you exhorting that you ^(C)contend earnestly for ^(D)the faith which was once for all ^(E)handed down to ^(F)the ^[a]saints.

Distorting the Gospel

⁶ I marvel that you are so quickly deserting ^(A)Him who called you ^[a]by the grace of Christ for a ^(B)different gospel, ⁷ which is really not another, only there are some who are ^(C)disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But even if we, or ^(D)an angel from heaven, should proclaim to you a gospel ^[b]contrary to the gospel we have proclaimed to you, let him be ^[c](E)accursed! ⁹ As we ^(F)have said before, so I say again now, ^(G)if any man is proclaiming to you a gospel ^[d]contrary to what you received, let him be ^[e](H)accursed!

^9 [a]Anyone who ^[b]goes too far and ^(A)does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. The one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, ^(B)do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting, ¹¹ for the one who gives him a greeting ^[c](C)participates in his evil deeds.

¹⁸ I bear witness to everyone who hears ^(A)the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone ^(B)adds to them, God will add to him ^(C)the plagues which are written in ^(D)this book. ¹⁹ And if anyone ^(E)takes away from the ^(F)words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from ^(G)the tree of life and ^[a]from the holy city, ^(H)which are written in this book.
