3 (A)Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our (B)common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you exhorting that you (C)contend earnestly for (D)the faith which was once for all (E)handed down to (F)the [a]saints. 4 For certain persons have (G)crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand [b](H)marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn (I)the grace of our God into (J)sensuality and (K)deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Occasion of the Letter
3 Beloved, being very eager to write to you of our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For admission has been secretly gained by some who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly persons who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.[a]
