Judgment on False Teachers
5 Now I desire to remind you, though you are fully informed, once and for all, that Jesus, who saved[a] a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.(A) 6 And the angels who did not keep their own position but deserted their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in deepest darkness for the judgment of the great day.(B) 7 Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural lust,[b] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.(C)

5 Though you already know all this,(A) I want to remind you(B) that the Lord[a] at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.(C) 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.(D) 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah(E) and the surrounding towns(F) gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.(G)
