9 Y PASANDO Jesús, vió un hombre ciego desde su nacimiento.
2 Y preguntáronle sus discípulos, diciendo: Rabbí, ¿quién pecó, éste ó sus padres, para que naciese ciego?
3 Respondió Jesús: Ni éste pecó, ni sus padres: mas para que las obras de Dios se manifiesten en él.
4 Conviéneme obrar las obrar del que me envió, entre tanto que el día dura: la noche viene, cuando nadie puede obrar.
5 Entre tanto que estuviere en el mundo, luz soy del mundo.
6 Esto dicho, escupió en tierra, é hizo lodo con la saliva, y untó con el lodo sobre los ojos del ciego,
7 Y díjole: Ve, lávate en el estanque de Siloé (que significa, si lo interpretares, Enviado). Y fué entonces, y lavóse, y volvió viendo.
8 Entonces los vecinos, y los que antes le habían visto que era ciego, decían: ¿no es éste el que se sentaba y mendigaba?
9 Unos decían: Este es; y otros: A él se parece. El decía: Yo soy.
10 Y dijéronle: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos?
11 Respondió él y dijo: El hombre que se llama Jesús, hizo lodo, y me untó los ojos, y me dijo: Ve al Siloé, y lávate: y fuí, y me lavé, y recibí la vista.
12 Entonces le dijeron: ¿Dónde está aquél? El dijo: No sé.
13 Llevaron á los Fariseos al que antes había sido ciego.
14 Y era sábado cuando Jesús había hecho el lodo, y le había abierto los ojos.
15 Y volviéronle á preguntar también los Fariseos de qué manera había recibido la vista. Y él les dijo: Púsome lodo sobre los ojos, y me lavé, y veo.
16 Entonces unos de los Fariseos decían: Este hombre no es de Dios, que no guarda el sábado. Otros decían: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer estas señales? Y había disensión entre ellos.
17 Vuelven á decir al ciego: ¿Tú, qué dices del que te abrió los ojos? Y él dijo: Que es profeta.
18 Mas los Judíos no creían de él, que había sido ciego, y hubiese recibido la vista, hasta que llamaron á los padres del que había recibido la vista;
19 Y preguntáronles, diciendo: ¿Es éste vuestro hijo, el que vosotros decís que nació ciego? ¿Cómo, pues, ve ahora?
20 Respondiéronles sus padres y dijeron: Sabemos que éste es nuestro hijo, y que nació ciego:
21 Mas cómo vea ahora, no sabemos; ó quién le haya abierto los ojos, nosotros no lo sabemos; él tiene edad, preguntadle á él; él hablará de sí.
22 Esto dijeron sus padres, porque tenían miedo de los Judíos: porque ya los Judíos habían resuelto que si alguno confesase ser él el Mesías, fuese fuera de la sinagoga.
23 Por eso dijeron sus padres: Edad tiene, preguntadle á él.
24 Así que, volvieron á llamar al hombre que había sido ciego, y dijéronle: Da gloria á Dios: nosotros sabemos que este hombre es pecador.
25 Entonces él respondió, y dijo: Si es pecador, no lo sé: una cosa sé, que habiendo yo sido ciego, ahora veo.
26 Y volviéronle á decir: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos?
27 Respondióles: Ya os lo he dicho, y no habéis atendido: ¿por qué lo queréis otra vez oir? ¿queréis también vosotros haceros sus discípulos?
28 Y le ultrajaron, y dijeron: Tú eres su discípulo; pero nosotros discípulos de Moisés somos.
29 Nosotros sabemos que á Moisés habló Dios: mas éste no sabemos de dónde es.
30 Respondió aquel hombre, y díjoles: Por cierto, maravillosa cosa es ésta, que vosotros no sabéis de dónde sea, y á mí me abrió los ojos.
31 Y sabemos que Dios no oye á los pecadores: mas si alguno es temeroso de Dios, y hace su voluntad, á éste oye.
32 Desde el siglo no fué oído, que abriese alguno los ojos de uno que nació ciego.
33 Si éste no fuera de Dios, no pudiera hacer nada.
34 Respondieron, y dijéronle: En pecados eres nacido todo, ¿y tú nos enseñas? Y echáronle fuera.
35 Oyó Jesús que le habían echado fuera; y hallándole, díjole: ¿Crees tú en el Hijo de Dios?
36 Respondió él, y dijo: ¿Quién es, Señor, para que crea en él?
37 Y díjole Jesús: Y le has visto, y el que habla contigo, él es.
38 Y él dice: Creo, Señor; y adoróle.
39 Y dijo Jesús: Yo, para juicio he venido á este mundo: para que los que no ven, vean; y los que ven, sean cegados.
40 Y ciertos de los Fariseos que estaban con él oyeron esto, y dijéronle: ¿Somos nosotros también ciegos?
41 Díjoles Jesús: Si fuerais ciegos, no tuvierais pecado: mas ahora porque decís, Vemos, por tanto vuestro pecado permanece.

Jesús sana a un ciego de nacimiento
9 Al pasar Jesús, vio a un hombre ciego de nacimiento. 2 Y le preguntaron sus discípulos, diciendo: Rabí, ¿quién pecó, este o sus padres, para que haya nacido ciego? 3 Respondió Jesús: No es que pecó este, ni sus padres, sino para que las obras de Dios se manifiesten en él. 4 Me es necesario hacer las obras del que me envió, entre tanto que el día dura; la noche viene, cuando nadie puede trabajar. 5 Entre tanto que estoy en el mundo, luz soy del mundo.(A) 6 Dicho esto, escupió en tierra, e hizo lodo con la saliva, y untó con el lodo los ojos del ciego, 7 y le dijo: Ve a lavarte en el estanque de Siloé (que traducido es, Enviado). Fue entonces, y se lavó, y regresó viendo. 8 Entonces los vecinos, y los que antes le habían visto que era ciego, decían: ¿No es este el que se sentaba y mendigaba? 9 Unos decían: Él es; y otros: A él se parece. Él decía: Yo soy. 10 Y le dijeron: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos? 11 Respondió él y dijo: Aquel hombre que se llama Jesús hizo lodo, me untó los ojos, y me dijo: Ve al Siloé, y lávate; y fui, y me lavé, y recibí la vista. 12 Entonces le dijeron: ¿Dónde está él? Él dijo: No sé.
Los fariseos interrogan al ciego sanado
13 Llevaron ante los fariseos al que había sido ciego. 14 Y era día de reposo[a] cuando Jesús había hecho el lodo, y le había abierto los ojos. 15 Volvieron, pues, a preguntarle también los fariseos cómo había recibido la vista. Él les dijo: Me puso lodo sobre los ojos, y me lavé, y veo. 16 Entonces algunos de los fariseos decían: Ese hombre no procede de Dios, porque no guarda el día de reposo.[b] Otros decían: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer estas señales? Y había disensión entre ellos. 17 Entonces volvieron a decirle al ciego: ¿Qué dices tú del que te abrió los ojos? Y él dijo: Que es profeta.
18 Pero los judíos no creían que él había sido ciego, y que había recibido la vista, hasta que llamaron a los padres del que había recibido la vista, 19 y les preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Es este vuestro hijo, el que vosotros decís que nació ciego? ¿Cómo, pues, ve ahora? 20 Sus padres respondieron y les dijeron: Sabemos que este es nuestro hijo, y que nació ciego; 21 pero cómo vea ahora, no lo sabemos; o quién le haya abierto los ojos, nosotros tampoco lo sabemos; edad tiene, preguntadle a él; él hablará por sí mismo. 22 Esto dijeron sus padres, porque tenían miedo de los judíos, por cuanto los judíos ya habían acordado que si alguno confesase que Jesús era el Mesías, fuera expulsado de la sinagoga. 23 Por eso dijeron sus padres: Edad tiene, preguntadle a él.
24 Entonces volvieron a llamar al hombre que había sido ciego, y le dijeron: Da gloria a Dios; nosotros sabemos que ese hombre es pecador. 25 Entonces él respondió y dijo: Si es pecador, no lo sé; una cosa sé, que habiendo yo sido ciego, ahora veo. 26 Le volvieron a decir: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos? 27 Él les respondió: Ya os lo he dicho, y no habéis querido oír; ¿por qué lo queréis oír otra vez? ¿Queréis también vosotros haceros sus discípulos? 28 Y le injuriaron, y dijeron: Tú eres su discípulo; pero nosotros, discípulos de Moisés somos. 29 Nosotros sabemos que Dios ha hablado a Moisés; pero respecto a ese, no sabemos de dónde sea. 30 Respondió el hombre, y les dijo: Pues esto es lo maravilloso, que vosotros no sepáis de dónde sea, y a mí me abrió los ojos. 31 Y sabemos que Dios no oye a los pecadores; pero si alguno es temeroso de Dios, y hace su voluntad, a ese oye. 32 Desde el principio no se ha oído decir que alguno abriese los ojos a uno que nació ciego. 33 Si este no viniera de Dios, nada podría hacer. 34 Respondieron y le dijeron: Tú naciste del todo en pecado, ¿y nos enseñas a nosotros? Y le expulsaron.
Ceguera espiritual
35 Oyó Jesús que le habían expulsado; y hallándole, le dijo: ¿Crees tú en el Hijo de Dios? 36 Respondió él y dijo: ¿Quién es, Señor, para que crea en él? 37 Le dijo Jesús: Pues le has visto, y el que habla contigo, él es. 38 Y él dijo: Creo, Señor; y le adoró. 39 Dijo Jesús: Para juicio he venido yo a este mundo; para que los que no ven, vean, y los que ven, sean cegados. 40 Entonces algunos de los fariseos que estaban con él, al oír esto, le dijeron: ¿Acaso nosotros somos también ciegos? 41 Jesús les respondió: Si fuerais ciegos, no tendríais pecado; mas ahora, porque decís: Vemos, vuestro pecado permanece.

A Man Born Blind Receives Sight
9 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, (A)who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, (B)but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 (C)I[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is (D)day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, (E)I am the light of the world.”
6 When He had said these things, (F)He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash (G)in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So (H)he went and washed, and came back seeing.
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was [b]blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”
9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, [c]“He is like him.”
He said, “I am he.”
10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”
11 He answered and said, (I)“A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to [d]the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”
12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?”
He said, “I do not know.”
The Pharisees Excommunicate the Healed Man
13 They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees. 14 Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. 15 Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”
16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not [e]keep the Sabbath.”
Others said, (J)“How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And (K)there was a division among them.
17 They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?”
He said, (L)“He is a prophet.”
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
20 His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; 21 but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said these things because (M)they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he (N)would be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24 So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, (O)“Give God the glory! (P)We know that this Man is a sinner.”
25 He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
26 Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”
28 Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples. 29 We know that God (Q)spoke to (R)Moses; as for this fellow, (S)we do not know where He is from.”
30 The man answered and said to them, (T)“Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! 31 Now we know that (U)God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. 32 Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. 33 (V)If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”
34 They answered and said to him, (W)“You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they [f]cast him out.
True Vision and True Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had (X)found him, He said to him, “Do you (Y)believe in (Z)the Son of [g]God?”
36 He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”
37 And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and (AA)it is He who is talking with you.”
38 Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he (AB)worshiped Him.
39 And Jesus said, (AC)“For judgment I have come into this world, (AD)that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”
40 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, (AE)and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”
41 Jesus said to them, (AF)“If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and finding him, he said, Dost thou believe on [b]the Son of God? 36 He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and he it is that speaketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he [c]worshipped him. 39 And Jesus said, For judgment came I into this world, that they that see not may see; and that they that see may become blind. 40 Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said unto him, Are we also blind? 41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye would have no sin: but now ye say, We see: your sin remaineth.
