Si Jesus sa Samaria
4 Nabalitaan ng mga Pariseo na si Jesus ay mas maraming nahihikayat na maging alagad at nababautismuhan kaysa kay Juan. Nalaman ito ng Panginoon[a] 2 (bagaman hindi si Jesus mismo ang nagbabautismo, kundi ang kanyang mga alagad), 3 kaya umalis siya sa Judea at bumalik sa Galilea. 4 Kailangan dumaan siya sa Samaria.
5 Dumating(A) siya sa isang bayan na tinatawag na Sicar. Malapit ito sa bukid na ibinigay ni Jacob sa kanyang anak na si Jose. 6 Dito matatagpuan ang balon ni Jacob. Dahil napagod si Jesus sa paglalakbay, umupo siya sa tabi ng balon. Halos katanghalian na noon.
7 May isang Samaritanang dumating upang umigib, at sinabi ni Jesus sa kanya, “Maaari bang makiinom?” 8 Wala noon ang kanyang mga alagad dahil sila'y bumibili ng pagkain sa bayan.
9 Sinabi(B) sa kanya ng babae, “Ikaw ay Judio at Samaritana naman ako. Bakit ka humihingi sa akin ng inumin?” Sinabi niya iyon sapagkat hindi nakikihalubilo ang mga Judio sa mga Samaritano.[b]
10 Sumagot si Jesus, “Kung alam mo lamang ang kaloob ng Diyos, at kung sino itong humihingi sa iyo ng inumin, ikaw ang hihingi sa kanya at bibigyan ka niya ng tubig na nagbibigay-buhay.”
11 Nagsalita ang babae, “Ginoo, malalim ang balong ito at wala ka namang pansalok. Saan ka kukuha ng tubig na nagbibigay-buhay? 12 Ang balong ito ay pamana pa sa amin ng aming ninunong si Jacob. Dito siya uminom, gayundin ang kanyang mga anak at mga hayop. Higit ka pa ba sa kanya?”
13 Sumagot si Jesus, “Ang bawat uminom ng tubig na ito'y muling mauuhaw, 14 ngunit ang sinumang uminom ng tubig na ibibigay ko sa kanya ay hindi na muling mauuhaw kailanman. Ang tubig na ibibigay ko ay magiging batis sa loob niya, at patuloy na bubukal at magbibigay sa kanya ng buhay na walang hanggan.”
15 Sinabi ng babae, “Ginoo, bigyan po ninyo ako ng tubig na iyan upang hindi na ako mauhaw, ni pumarito pa upang sumalok muli.”
16 “Umuwi ka at isama mo rito ang iyong asawa,” wika ni Jesus.
17 “Wala akong asawa,” sagot ng babae.
Sinabi ni Jesus, “Tama ang sinabi mong wala kang asawa 18 sapagkat lima na ang iyong naging asawa, at ang kinakasama mo ngayon ay hindi mo asawa. Totoo nga ang sinabi mo.”
19 Sinabi ng babae, “Ginoo, palagay ko ay isa kang propeta. 20 Dito sa bundok na ito sumamba sa Diyos ang aming mga ninuno, ngunit sinasabi ninyong mga Judio na sa Jerusalem lamang dapat sambahin ang Diyos.”
21 Sinabi naman ni Jesus, “Maniwala ka sa akin, darating ang panahon na sasambahin ninyo ang Ama hindi na sa bundok na ito o sa Jerusalem. 22 Hindi ninyo kilala ang inyong sinasamba, ngunit kilala namin ang aming sinasamba, sapagkat ang kaligtasan ay nagmumula sa mga Judio. 23 Subalit dumarating na ang panahon at ngayon na nga, na ang mga tunay na sumasamba sa Ama ay sasamba sa kanya sa espiritu at sa katotohanan. Sapagkat ganyan ang uri ng pagsambang ninanais ng Ama. 24 Ang Diyos ay Espiritu at ang mga sumasamba sa kanya ay dapat siyang sambahin sa espiritu at sa katotohanan.”
25 Sinabi ng babae, “Nalalaman ko pong darating ang Mesiyas, ang tinatawag na Cristo. Pagdating niya, siya ang magpapahayag sa amin ng lahat ng bagay.”
26 “Akong kausap mo ngayon ang iyong tinutukoy,” sabi ni Jesus.
27 Dumating ang kanyang mga alagad nang sandaling iyon, at nagtaka sila nang makita nilang nakikipag-usap si Jesus sa isang Samaritana. Ngunit isa man sa kanila'y walang nagtanong sa babae, “Ano ang kailangan ninyo?” Wala ring nagtanong kay Jesus, “Bakit ninyo siya kinakausap?”
28 Iniwan ng babae ang kanyang banga, bumalik sa bayan at sinabi sa mga tagaroon, 29 “Halikayo! Tingnan ninyo ang taong nagsabi sa akin ng lahat ng ginawa ko. Siya na kaya ang Cristo?”
30 Kaya't lumabas ng bayan ang mga tao at nagpunta kay Jesus.
31 Samantala, makailang ulit na sinabi ng mga alagad kay Jesus, “Rabi, kumain na kayo.”
32 Ngunit sumagot siya, “Ako'y may pagkaing hindi ninyo nalalaman.”
33 Kaya't nagtanung-tanungan ang mga alagad, “May nagdala kaya sa kanya ng pagkain?”
34 Sinabi sa kanila ni Jesus, “Ang pagkain ko'y ang tuparin ang kalooban ng nagsugo sa akin at tapusin ang ipinapagawa niya sa akin.
35 “Hindi ba sinasabi ninyo, ‘Apat na buwan pa at anihan na’? Sinasabi ko naman sa inyo, masdan ninyo ang mga bukid, hinog na ang trigo at handa nang anihin. 36 Ang umaani ay tumatanggap ng kabayaran at nagtitipon ng bunga para sa buhay na walang hanggan. Kaya't magkasamang magagalak ang nagtatanim at ang umaani. 37 Dito nagkakatotoo ang kasabihang, ‘Iba ang nagtatanim at iba naman ang umaani.’ 38 Isinugo ko kayo upang anihin ang hindi ninyo itinanim. Iba ang naghirap dito at kayo naman ang umani ng kanilang pinaghirapan.”
39 Maraming Samaritano sa bayang iyon ang naniwala kay Jesus dahil sa patotoo ng babae, “Sinabi niya sa akin ang lahat ng aking ginawa.” 40 Kaya't pumunta sila kay Jesus at nakiusap na tumigil muna siya roon, at tumigil nga siya roon sa loob ng dalawang araw.
41 At marami pang sumampalataya nang mapakinggan siya. 42 Pagkatapos, sinabi nila sa babae, “Naniniwala kami ngayon, hindi na dahil sa sinabi mo kundi dahil sa narinig namin siya. Alam na naming siya nga ang Tagapagligtas ng sangkatauhan.”
Pinagaling ni Jesus ang Anak ng Isang Pinuno ng Pamahalaan
43 Pagkaraan ng dalawang araw, bumalik si Jesus sa Galilea. 44 (Si(C) Jesus na rin ang nagpatotoo na ang isang propeta'y hindi iginagalang sa sarili nitong bayan.) 45 Pagdating(D) niya sa Galilea ay mabuti ang pagtanggap sa kanya ng mga tagaroon, sapagkat nasa Jerusalem din sila noong Pista ng Paskwa at nakita nila ang lahat ng kanyang ginawa roon.
46 Nagpunta(E) muli si Jesus sa Cana sa Galilea, kung saan ginawa niyang alak ang tubig. Sa bayan naman ng Capernaum ay may isang pinuno ng pamahalaan. Ang anak niyang lalaki ay may sakit 47 at naghihingalo na. Nang mabalitaan niyang bumalik si Jesus sa Galilea mula sa Judea, pinuntahan niya ito at pinakiusapang pumunta sa Capernaum upang pagalingin ang kanyang anak. 48 Sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Hangga't hindi kayo nakakakita ng mga himala at mga kababalaghan, kailanman ay hindi kayo sasampalataya.”
49 Ngunit sinabi ng pinuno, “Tayo na po, Panginoon, bago mamatay ang aking anak.”
50 Sumagot si Jesus, “Umuwi ka na, hindi mamamatay ang iyong anak.” Naniwala ang lalaki sa sinabi ni Jesus, at umuwi na nga siya. 51 Sa daan pa lamang ay sinalubong na siya ng kanyang mga alipin at sinabing gumaling na ang kanyang anak.
52 Tinanong niya ang mga iyon, “Anong oras nang bumuti ang kalagayan niya?”
“Ala-una po kahapon nang siya'y mawalan ng lagnat,” tugon nila.
53 Naalala ng ama na noong oras na iyon sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Hindi mamamatay ang iyong anak.” Kaya't siya at ang kanyang buong sambahayan ay sumampalataya kay Jesus.
54 Ito ang pangalawang himalang ginawa ni Jesus sa Galilea pagkagaling mula sa Judea.

4 Quando dunque il Signore seppe che i farisei avevano udito che Gesú stava facendo piú discepoli e battezzando più di Giovanni
2 (sebbene non fosse Gesú stesso che battezzava ma i suoi discepoli),
3 lasciò la Giudea e se ne andò di nuovo in Galilea.
4 Or egli doveva passare per la Samara.
5 Arrivò dunque in una città della Samaria, detta Sichar, vicino al podere che Giacobbe aveva dato a Giuseppe, suo figlio.
6 Or qui c'era il pozzo di Giacobbe. E Gesú, affaticato dal cammino, sedeva cosí presso il pozzo; era circa l'ora sesta.
7 Una donna di Samaria venne per attingere l'acqua. E Gesú le disse: «Dammi da bere»,
8 perché i suoi discepoli erano andati in città a comperare del cibo.
9 Ma la donna samaritana gli disse: «Come mai tu che sei Giudeo chiedi da bere a me, che sono una donna samaritana?» (Infatti i Giudei non hanno rapporti con i Samaritani).
10 Gesú rispose e le disse: «Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio e chi è colui che ti dice: "Dammi da bere tu stessa gliene avresti chiesto, ed egli ti avrebbe dato dell'acqua viva»
11 La donna gli disse: «Signore, tu non hai neppure un secchio per attingere e il pozzo è profondo; da dove hai dunque quest'acqua viva?
12 Sei tu forse piú grande di Giacobbe nostro padre, che ci diede questo pozzo e ne bevve egli stesso, i suoi figli e il suo bestiame?».
13 Gesú rispose e le disse: «Chiunque beve di quest'acqua, avrà ancora sete,
14 ma chi beve dell'acqua che io gli darò non avrà mai piú sete in eterno; ma l'acqua che io gli darò diventerà in lui una fonte d'acqua che zampilla in vita eterna».
15 La donna gli disse: «Signore, dammi quest'acqua, affinché io non abbia piú sete e non venga piú qui ad attingere».
16 Gesú le disse: «Va' a chiamare tuo marito e torna qui».
17 La donna rispose e gli disse: «Io non ho marito». Gesú le disse: «Hai detto bene: "Non ho marito",
18 perché tu hai avuto cinque mariti e quello che hai ora non è tuo marito; in questo hai detto la verità».
19 La donna gli disse: «Signore, vedo che tu sei un profeta.
20 I nostri padri hanno adorato su questo monte, e voi dite che è a Gerusalemme il luogo dove si deve adorare».
21 Gesú le disse: «Donna, credimi: l'ora viene che né su questo monte, né a Gerusalemme adorerete il Padre.
22 Voi adorate quel che non conoscete; noi adoriamo quel che conosciamo; perché la salvezza viene dai Giudei.
23 Ma l'ora viene, anzi è già venuta, che i veri adoratori adoreranno il Padre in spirito e verità, perché tali sono gli adoratori che il Padre richiede.
24 Dio è Spirito, e quelli che lo adorano devono adorarlo in spirito e verità».
25 La donna gli disse: «lo so che il Messia, che è chiamato Cristo, deve venire quando sarà venuto lui ci annunzierà ogni cosa».
26 Gesú le disse: «Io sono, colui che ti parla».
27 In quel momento arrivarono i suoi discepoli e si meravigliarono che parlasse con una donna; nessuno però gli disse: «Che vuoi?» o: «Perché parli con lei?».
28 La donna allora, lasciato il suo secchio, se ne andò in città e disse alla gente:
29 «Venite a vedere un uomo che mi ha detto tutto quello che io ho fatto; non sarà forse lui il Cristo?».
30 Uscirono dunque dalla città e vennero da lui.
31 Intanto i suoi discepoli lo pregavano dicendo: «Maestro, mangia».
32 Ma egli disse loro: «Io ho un cibo da mangiare che voi non conoscete».
33 I discepoli perciò si dicevano l'un l'altro: «Gli ha qualcuno forse portato da mangiare?».
34 Gesú disse loro: «Il mio cibo è fare la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato e di compiere l'opera sua.
35 Non dite voi che vi sono ancora quattro mesi e poi viene la mietitura? Ecco, io vi dico: Alzate i vostri occhi e mirate le campagne come già biancheggiano per la mietitura.
36 Or il mietitore riceve il premio e raccoglie frutto per la vita eterna, affinché il seminatore e il mietitore si rallegrino insieme.
37 Poiché in questo è vero il detto: "L'uno semina e l'altro miete".
38 Io vi ho mandato a mietere ciò per cui non avete faticato; altri hanno faticato e voi siete entrati nella loro fatica».
39 Ora, molti Samaritani di quella città credettero in lui, a motivo della parola che la donna aveva attestato: «Egli mi ha detto tutte le cose che io ho fatto».
40 Quando poi i Samaritani vennero da lui, lo pregarono di restare con loro; ed egli vi rimase due giorni.
41 E molti di piú credettero a motivo della sua parola.
42 Ed essi dicevano alla donna: «Non è piú a motivo delle tue parole che noi crediamo, ma perché noi stessi abbiamo udito e sappiamo che costui è veramente il Cristo, il Salvatore del mondo».
43 Ora, passati quei due giorni, egli partí di là e andò in Galilea,
44 perché Gesú stesso aveva testimoniato che un profeta non è onorato nella propria patria.
45 Quando dunque giunse in Galilea, i Galilei lo ricevettero, perché avevano visto tutte le cose che egli aveva fatto in Gerusalemme durante la festa, poiché anch'essi erano andati alla festa.
46 Gesú dunque venne di nuovo a Cana di Galilea, dove aveva mutato l'acqua in vino. Ora vi era un funzionario regio, il cui figlio era ammalato a Capernaum.
47 Avendo egli udito che Gesú era venuto dalla Giudea in Galilea, andò da lui e lo pregò che scendesse e guarisse suo figlio, perché stava per morire.
48 Allora Gesú gli disse: «Se non vedete segni e miracoli, voi non credete».
49 Il funzionario regio gli disse: «Signore, scendi prima che il mio ragazzo muoia».
50 Gesú gli disse: «Va tuo figlio vive!». E quell'uomo credette alla parola che gli aveva detto Gesú, e se ne andò.
51 Proprio mentre egli scendeva, gli vennero incontro i suoi servi e lo informarono, dicendo: «Tuo figlio vive».
52 Ed egli domandò loro a che ora era stato meglio; essi gli dissero: «Ieri all'ora settima la febbre lo lasciò».
53 Allora il padre riconobbe che era proprio in quell'ora in cui Gesú gli aveva detto: «Tuo figlio vive»; e credette lui con tutta la sua casa.
54 Gesú fece anche questo secondo segno quando tornò dalla Giudea in Galilea.

Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman
4 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John(A)— 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea(B) and went back once more to Galilee.
4 Now he had to go through Samaria.(C) 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.(D) 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”(E) 8 (His disciples had gone into the town(F) to buy food.)
9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan(G) woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”(H)
11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well(I) and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.(J) Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water(K) welling up to eternal life.”(L)
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty(M) and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
17 “I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.(N) 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain,(O) but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”(P)
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming(Q) when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.(R) 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know;(S) we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.(T) 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come(U) when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit(V) and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit,(W) and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ)(X) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”(Y)
The Disciples Rejoin Jesus
27 Just then his disciples returned(Z) and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.(AA) Could this be the Messiah?”(AB) 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi,(AC) eat something.”
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat(AD) that you know nothing about.”
33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will(AE) of him who sent me and to finish his work.(AF) 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.(AG) 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests(AH) a crop for eternal life,(AI) so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’(AJ) is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
Many Samaritans Believe
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town(AK) believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”(AL) 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”(AM)
Jesus Heals an Official’s Son
43 After the two days(AN) he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.)(AO) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,(AP) for they also had been there.
46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.(AQ) And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,(AR) he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,”(AS) Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household(AT) believed.
54 This was the second sign(AU) Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.
