Jesús, el buen pastor
10 En verdad, en verdad os digo: el que no entra por la puerta en el redil de las ovejas, sino que sube por otra parte, ese es ladrón y salteador(A). 2 Pero el que entra por la puerta, es el pastor(B) de las ovejas. 3 A este le abre el portero, y las ovejas oyen su voz(C); llama a sus ovejas por nombre y las conduce afuera(D). 4 Cuando saca todas las suyas, va delante de ellas, y las ovejas lo siguen porque conocen su voz(E). 5 Pero a un desconocido no seguirán, sino que huirán de él, porque no conocen la voz(F) de los extraños. 6 Jesús les habló por medio de esta alegoría(G), pero ellos no entendieron qué era lo que les decía.
7 Entonces Jesús les dijo de nuevo: En verdad, en verdad os digo: yo soy la puerta de las ovejas(H). 8 Todos los que vinieron antes de mí son ladrones y salteadores(I), pero las ovejas no les hicieron caso[a]. 9 Yo soy la puerta(J); si alguno entra por mí, será salvo; y entrará y saldrá y hallará pasto. 10 El ladrón solo viene para robar y matar y destruir; yo he venido para que tengan vida(K), y para que la tengan en abundancia. 11 Yo soy el buen pastor(L); el buen pastor da su vida por las ovejas(M). 12 Pero el que es un asalariado y no un pastor(N), que no es el dueño de las ovejas, ve venir al lobo, y abandona las ovejas y huye, y el lobo las arrebata y las dispersa. 13 El huye porque solo trabaja por el pago[b] y no le importan las ovejas. 14 Yo soy el buen pastor(O), y conozco mis ovejas[c](P) y las mías me conocen, 15 de igual manera que el Padre me conoce y yo conozco al Padre(Q), y doy mi vida por las ovejas(R). 16 Tengo otras ovejas(S) que no son de este redil; a esas también me es necesario traerlas, y oirán mi voz, y serán un rebaño(T) con un solo pastor(U). 17 Por eso el Padre me ama, porque yo doy mi vida para tomarla de nuevo(V). 18 Nadie me la quita[d](W), sino que yo la doy de mi propia voluntad. Tengo autoridad para darla, y tengo autoridad para tomarla de nuevo(X). Este mandamiento recibí de mi Padre(Y).
Los judíos divididos otra vez
19 Se volvió a suscitar una división(Z) entre los judíos por estas palabras. 20 Y muchos de ellos decían: Tiene un demonio(AA) y está loco(AB). ¿Por qué le hacéis caso[e]? 21 Otros decían: Estas no son palabras de un endemoniado(AC). ¿Puede acaso un demonio abrir los ojos de los ciegos(AD)?
Jesús, uno con el Padre
22 En esos días[f] se celebraba en Jerusalén la fiesta de la Dedicación. 23 Era invierno, y Jesús andaba por el templo, en el pórtico de Salomón(AE). 24 Entonces los judíos(AF) le rodearon, y le decían: ¿Hasta cuándo nos vas a tener en suspenso? Si tú eres el Cristo[g], dínoslo claramente(AG). 25 Jesús les respondió: Os lo he dicho(AH), y no creéis; las obras que yo hago en el nombre de mi Padre, estas dan testimonio de mí(AI). 26 Pero vosotros no creéis porque no sois de mis ovejas(AJ). 27 Mis ovejas oyen mi voz(AK), y yo las conozco(AL) y me siguen; 28 y yo les doy vida eterna(AM) y jamás perecerán, y nadie las arrebatará de mi mano(AN). 29 Mi Padre que me las dio es mayor que todos[h], y nadie las puede arrebatar de la mano del Padre. 30 Yo y el Padre somos uno[i](AO).
Los judíos amenazan a Jesús
31 Los judíos volvieron a tomar piedras para apedrearle(AP). 32 Jesús les dijo[j]: Os he mostrado muchas obras buenas que son del Padre. ¿Por cuál[k] de ellas me apedreáis? 33 Los judíos le contestaron: No te apedreamos por ninguna obra buena, sino por blasfemia(AQ); y porque tú, siendo hombre, te haces Dios(AR). 34 Jesús les respondió: ¿No está escrito en vuestra ley(AS): «Yo dije: sois dioses(AT)»? 35 Si a aquellos, a quienes vino la palabra de Dios, los llamó dioses (y la Escritura no se puede violar), 36 ¿a quién el Padre santificó(AU) y envió al mundo(AV), vosotros decís: «Blasfemas», porque dije: «Yo soy el Hijo de Dios(AW)»? 37 Si no hago las obras de mi Padre(AX), no me creáis; 38 pero si las hago, aunque a mí no me creáis, creed las obras(AY); para que sepáis y entendáis[l] que el Padre está en mí y yo en el Padre(AZ). 39 Por eso procuraban otra vez prenderle(BA), pero se les escapó de entre las manos(BB).
40 Se fue de nuevo al otro lado del Jordán, al lugar donde primero había estado bautizando Juan(BC), y se quedó allí. 41 Y muchos vinieron a Él y decían: Aunque Juan no hizo ninguna señal[m](BD), sin embargo, todo lo que Juan dijo de este(BE) era verdad. 42 Y muchos creyeron en Él allí(BF).

A Story about Sheep
10 Jesus said:
I tell you for certain only thieves and robbers climb over the fence instead of going in through the gate to the sheep pen. 2-3 But the gatekeeper opens the gate for the shepherd, and he goes in through it. The sheep know their shepherd's voice. He calls each of them by name and leads them out.
4 When he has led out all of his sheep, he walks in front of them, and they follow, because they know his voice. 5 The sheep will not follow strangers. They don't recognize a stranger's voice, and they run away.
6 Jesus told the people this story. But they did not understand what he was talking about.
Jesus Is the Good Shepherd
7 Jesus said:
I tell you for certain that I am the gate for the sheep. 8 Everyone who came before me was a thief or a robber, and the sheep did not listen to any of them. 9 I am the gate. All who come in through me will be saved. Through me they will come and go and find pasture.
10 A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so everyone would have life, and have it fully. 11 (A) I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd gives up his life for his sheep. 12 Hired workers are not like the shepherd. They don't own the sheep, and when they see a wolf coming, they run off and leave the sheep. Then the wolf attacks and scatters the flock. 13 Hired workers run away because they don't care about the sheep.
14 (B) I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and they know me. 15 (C) Just as the Father knows me, I know the Father, and I give up my life for my sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not in this sheep pen. I must also bring them together, when they hear my voice. Then there will be one flock of sheep and one shepherd.
17 The Father loves me, because I give up my life, so I may receive it back again. 18 No one takes my life from me. I give it up willingly! I have the power to give it up and the power to receive it back again, just as my Father commanded me to do.
19 The people took sides because of what Jesus had told them. 20 Many of them said, “He has a demon in him! He is crazy! Why listen to him?”
21 But others said, “How could anyone with a demon in him say these things? No one like this could give sight to a blind person!”
Jesus Is Rejected
22 (D) That winter, Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Temple Festival. 23 One day he was walking in the part of the temple known as Solomon's Porch,[a] 24 and the people gathered all around him. They said, “How long are you going to keep us guessing? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly!”
25 Jesus answered:
I have told you, and you refused to believe me. The things I do by my Father's authority show who I am. 26 But since you are not my sheep, you don't believe me. 27 My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me, 28 and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 (E) My Father gave them to me, and he is greater than all others.[b] No one can snatch them from his hands, 30 and I am one with the Father.
31 Once again the people picked up stones in order to kill Jesus. 32 But he said, “I have shown you many good things my Father sent me to do. Which one are you going to stone me for?”
33 They answered, “We are not stoning you because of any good thing you did. We are stoning you because you did a terrible thing. You are just a man, and here you are claiming to be God!”
34 (F) Jesus replied:
In your Scriptures doesn't God say, “You are gods”? 35 You can't argue with the Scriptures, and God spoke to those people and called them gods. 36 So why do you accuse me of a terrible sin for saying that I am the Son of God? After all, it is the Father who prepared me for this work. He is also the one who sent me into the world. 37 If I don't do as my Father does, you should not believe me. 38 But if I do what my Father does, you should believe because of that, even if you don't have faith in me. Then you will know for certain that the Father is one with me, and I am one with the Father.
39 Again they wanted to arrest Jesus. But he escaped 40 (G) and crossed the Jordan to the place where John had earlier been baptizing. While Jesus was there, 41 many people came to him. They were saying, “John didn't work any miracles, but everything he said about Jesus is true.” 42 A lot of those people also put their faith in Jesus.

10 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 양 우리에 들어갈 때에, 문으로 들어가지 않고 다른 곳으로 넘어 들어가는 사람은 도둑이요 강도이다. 2 문으로 버젓이 들어가는 사람은 양을 치는 목자이다. 3 문지기는 목자가 우리에 들어가도록 문을 열어 주고, 양들은 목자의 목소리에 귀를 기울인다. 목자는 자기 양들의 이름을 하나하나 불러서 밖으로 데리고 나온다. 4 그는 자기 양들을 모두 데리고 나온 다음, 양들을 앞서 간다. 그러면 양들은 그의 목소리를 알기 때문에 그를 따른다. 5 그러나 양들은 결코 낯선 사람은 따르지 않을 것이다. 오히려 그 사람에게서 도망칠 것이다. 그 낯선 사람의 목소리를 모르기 때문이다.” 6 예수께서 이런 비유를 들려주셨으나, 그들은 이 이야기가 무엇을 뜻하는지 깨닫지 못하였다.

7 그러므로 예수께서 다시 말씀하셨다. “내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 나는 양들을 위한 문이다. 8 나보다 먼저 온 사람은 모두 도둑이고 강도다. 양들은 그들의 말에 귀를 기울이지 않았다. 9 나는 문이다. 누구든지 나를 거쳐서 들어가는 사람은 안전할 것이다. 그는 들어오고 나가며 넉넉한 꼴을 얻을 것이다. 10 도둑은 오로지 훔치고 죽이고 부수려고 온다. 그러나 나는 모든 사람이 삶을 얻고, 그 삶을 마음껏 누리게 하려고 왔다.
11 나는 선한 목자다. 선한 목자는 양을 위하여 자기 목숨을 바친다. 12 그러나 삯꾼은 다르다. 그는 목자도 아니고, 양도 제 양이 아니므로, 늑대가 오는 것을 보면 양을 버리고 도망간다. 그러면 늑대가 양 떼를 덮쳐서 양들을 뿔뿔이 흩어지게 한다. 13 그가 도망치는 것은, 삯꾼이어서 양들을 걱정하는 마음이 조금도 없기 때문이다.
14 나는 선한 목자다. 나는 내 양을 알고, 내 양은 나를 안다. 15 그것은 마치 아버지께서 나를 아시고, 내가 아버지를 아는 것과 같다. 그리고 나는 양들을 위하여 내 목숨을 바친다. 16 내게는 이 우리에 속하지 않는 다른 양들도 있다. 나는 그들도 데리고 와야 한다. 그들도 내 목소리에 귀를 기울일 것이다. 그러면 양 떼도 하나, 목자도 하나만 있을 것이다. 17 아버지께서 나를 사랑하시는 것은, 내가 내 목숨을 버리기 때문이다. 그러나 마침내 나는 내 목숨을 되찾을 것이다. 18 어느 누가 내 목숨을 빼앗아 가는 것이 아니라, 내가 스스로 버리는 것이다. 나는 내 목숨을 버릴 권한도 있고, 그것을 되찾을 권한도 있다. 나는 이 명령을 내 아버지에게서 받았다.”
19 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시자 유대 사람들이 다시 나뉘었다. 20 그들 가운데 많은 사람이 말하였다. “그는 귀신[a] 들려 아주 미쳐 버렸다. 무엇 하러 그의 말을 듣겠는가?”
21 그러나 다른 유대 사람들은 이렇게 말하였다. “귀신 들린 사람은 이런 말을 하지 않는다. 그리고 귀신이 눈먼 사람의 눈을 고칠 수 있겠는가?”
예수를 반대하는 유대 사람들
22 예루살렘에서 성전 봉헌절[b] 축제가 벌어지고 있었다. 때는 겨울이었다. 23 예수께서는 성전 뜰 안에 있는 솔로몬 행각[c]을 거닐고 계셨다. 24 유대 사람들이 예수의 둘레에 모여들어 말하였다. “당신은 얼마나 더 우리의 마음을 조이게 할 작정이오? 당신이 그리스도라면 그렇다고 분명히 말해 주시오.”
25 예수께서 대답하셨다. “내가 이미 너희에게 말하였다. 그러나 너희가 믿지 않는다. 내가 내 아버지의 이름으로 행하는 기적이 내가 누구인지 말해 준다. 26 그러나 너희는 믿지 않는다. 너희가 내 양이 아니기 때문이다. 27 내 양은 내 목소리에 귀를 기울인다. 나는 내 양을 알고, 그들은 나를 따른다. 28 나는 그들에게 영원한 생명을 준다. 그러니 그들은 결코 죽지 않을 것이다. 아무도 그들을 내 손에서 빼앗아 가지 못한다. 29 그들을 내게 주신 내 아버지는 그 누구보다도 위대하시다.[d] 아무도 내 아버지의 손에서 내 양들을 빼앗아 갈 수 없다. 30 나와 내 아버지는 하나이다.”
31 유대 사람들은 이번에도 돌을 들어 예수를 치려고 하였다. 32 그러나 예수께서는 그들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “나는 아버지로부터 오는 큰 기적들을 너희에게 많이 보여 주었다. 그 기적들 가운데 어느 것 때문에 너희가 나를 돌로 치려 하느냐?”
33 유대 사람들이 대답하였다. “우리가 당신을 돌로 치려는 것은, 당신이 보여 준 어떤 기적 때문이 아니라, 당신이 하나님을 모독하는 말을 했기 때문이오. 당신은 한낱 사람에 지나지 않으면서, 자신이 하나님이라고 주장하고 있소!”
34 예수께서 대답하셨다. “너희의 율법서에도 ‘너희는 신들이라고 내가 말하였다.’(A)라고 쓰여 있다. 35 하나님께서, 하나님의 말씀을 받은 사람들을 신들이라고 하셨다. 그리고 성경 말씀은 결코 깰 수 없는 것이다. 36 아버지께서는 나를 거룩하게 구별하여 세상에 보내셨다. 그런데 어찌하여 너희는, 내가 ‘나는 하나님의 아들이다.’ 라는 말로 하나님을 모독한다고 하느냐? 37 만일 내가 내 아버지께서 하시는 일을 하지 않는다면 나를 믿지 말아라. 38 그러나 내가 내 아버지께서 하시는 일을 한다면, 나는 믿지 않더라도 내가 하는 일을 믿어라. 그러면 아버지께서 내 안에 계시고, 내가 아버지 안에 계신다는 것을 깨닫게 될 것이다.”
39 유대 사람들이 다시 예수를 잡으려고 하였다. 그러나 예수께서는 그들의 손을 벗어나서 피하셨다.
40 그 뒤에 예수께서는 요단 강[e]을 건너서, 요한[f]이 처음에 세례를 주던 곳으로 돌아가셨다. 그리고 그곳에 머무시는 동안에, 41 많은 사람이 예수께 와서 말하였다. “요한은 표적을 단 한 번도 보여 주지 않았지만, 요한이 이 사람을 두고 한 말은 모두 사실이다.” 42 그리고 그곳에서 많은 사람이 예수를 믿었다.
