Verdeling van de rest van het land bij Silo
18 Voor de verdeling van de rest van het land werd het hele volk van de Israëlieten bij elkaar geroepen bij Silo. Ze zetten er de tent van ontmoeting neer. In dat gebied konden ze alvast wonen, doordat ze dat al hadden veroverd. 2 Maar er waren nog zeven stammen die hun eigen gebied nog niet hadden gekregen. 3 Daarom zei Jozua tegen de Israëlieten: "Waar wachten jullie nog op? De Heer, de God van jullie voorvaders, heeft het land aan jullie gegeven! Waarom veroveren jullie het niet? 4 Kies uit elke stam drie mannen. Zij moeten door het land trekken en er een beschrijving van maken. Als ze daarmee klaar zijn, moeten ze bij mij terugkomen. 5 Daarna moeten ze het land met elkaar in zeven stukken verdelen. De stam van Juda houdt het gebied in het zuiden, de stam van Jozef het gebied in het noorden. 6 Maak een beschrijving van de rest van het land en verdeel het in zeven delen. Dan zal ik het land in overleg met onze Heer God verloten. 7 Maar de Levieten zullen geen eigen gebied krijgen, omdat zij het priesterschap van de Heer hebben gekregen. En de stammen van Gad en Ruben en de halve stam van Manasse hebben aan de oostkant van de Jordaan hun eigen gebied gekregen van Mozes, de dienaar van de Heer."
8 Toen gingen de mannen op weg. Jozua gaf hun de opdracht om een beschrijving van het land te maken. Hij zei: "Trek het hele land door en maak er een beschrijving van. Kom daarna bij mij terug. Dan zal ik het hier bij de Heer in Silo verloten." 9 Toen trokken de mannen door het hele land. Ze maakten in een boek een beschrijving van het land, stad voor stad, en verdeelden het land in zeven delen. Daarmee kwamen ze bij Jozua terug in het tentenkamp bij Silo. 10 En Jozua verlootte het land onder de families van de zeven stammen, in de aanwezigheid van de Heer.
Het eigen gebied van de stam van Benjamin
11 Het eerste lot viel op de stam van Benjamin. Hun gebied lag tussen het gebied van de stam van Juda en het gebied van de stam van Jozef. 12 De noordgrens begon bij de Jordaan. Daarna liep de grens omhoog in de richting van de bergrug aan de noordkant van Jericho, dan in westelijke richting omhoog de bergen in, tot aan de woestijn van Bet-Aven. 13 Van daar naar Luz, langs de zuidkant van de bergrug van Luz (dat is nu Bet-El). Daarna naar Atarot-Addar in de bergen ten zuiden van Laag Bet-Horon. 14 Daarna met een boog langs de westkant van de bergen die ten zuiden van Bet-Horon liggen tot aan Kirjat-Baäl (dat is Kirjat-Jearim) in het eigen gebied van de stam van Juda. Dit was de westgrens.
15 De zuidgrens begon bij Kirjat-Jearim, liep dan in westelijke richting en daarna naar de bron van Neftoa. 16 Van daar naar de voet van de bergen die ten oosten van het Ben-Hinnom-dal liggen en ten noorden van het dal van de Refaïeten. Daarna naar beneden naar het Hinnom-dal, langs de zuidkant van de berghelling van de Jebusieten en daarna naar de bron Rogel. 17 Daarna met een bocht in noordelijke richting naar En-Semes en verder langs Gelilot bij de bergpas van Adummim, verder naar beneden naar de steen van Bohan (Bohan was een zoon van Ruben). 18 Dan langs de noordkant van de bergrug tegenover Araba naar de vlakte. 19 Van daar langs de noordkant van de berghelling van Bet-Hogla, tot aan de noordelijke punt van de Zoutzee, op de plaats waar de Jordaan in de Zoutzee komt. Dat was de zuidgrens. 20 De Jordaan was de oostgrens. Dit zijn de grenzen van het gebied dat werd verdeeld onder de families van de stam van Benjamin.
21 De steden die werden verdeeld onder de families van de stam van Benjamin waren Jericho, Bet-Hogla, Emek-Keziz, 22 Bet-Araba, Zemaraïm, Bet-El, 23 Avvim, Para, Ofra, 24 Kefar-Haämmonai, Ofni en Gibea. Samen twaalf steden, met de dorpen die daarbij hoorden. 25 Verder Gibeon, Rama, Beërot, 26 Mizpa, Kefira, Moza, 27 Rekem, Jirpeël, Tarala, 28 Zela, Elef en Jebus (dat is Jeruzalem), Gibat en Kirjat. Samen 14 steden, met de dorpen die daarbij horen. Dit was het gebied dat werd verdeeld onder de families van de stam van Benjamin.

18 Cuando los israelitas terminaron de conquistar la tierra, se reunieron todos en Siló. Allí levantaron el santuario, donde se reunían con Dios. 2 Pero todavía faltaba asignar territorio a siete tribus.
3 Entonces Josué les dijo:
«¿Qué están esperando para establecerse en la tierra que ya les ha dado el Dios de sus antepasados? 4 Quiero que cada tribu elija a tres hombres. Yo los enviaré a recorrer toda la tierra no repartida, para que luego me informen cómo puede repartirse. 5 Deberán dividir la tierra en siete partes, porque a la tribu de Judá ya se le han asignado territorios en el sur, y a los descendientes de José, en el norte. 6 Cuando me traigan esa información, yo consultaré a Dios para saber cómo asignarlas. 7 Pero los descendientes de Leví no recibirán ninguna parte del territorio. Ellos tendrán el privilegio de servir a Dios como sus sacerdotes. Las tribus de Gad y de Rubén, y la media tribu de Manasés, ya han recibido sus tierras al este del río Jordán. Se las entregó Moisés».
8 Los hombres que habían sido elegidos para hacer el informe se prepararon para salir. Josué les recomendó: «Recorran toda la tierra, regresen aquí con su informe, y yo entonces le consultaré a Dios».
9 Aquellos hombres recorrieron toda la tierra, y en su informe señalaron las siete regiones. También hicieron una lista de las ciudades de cada región. Luego volvieron a Siló, donde estaba Josué, 10 y después de consultar con Dios, Josué repartió la tierra, dándole su parte a cada tribu.
El territorio de la tribu de Benjamín
11 El primer territorio sorteado fue el de la tribu de Benjamín. Las tierras que le tocaron en suerte quedaban entre las de Judá y las de Efraín y Manasés. 12 Al norte, su frontera comenzaba en el río Jordán y subía por el cerro al norte de Jericó. Seguía luego hacia el oeste, por la región montañosa, hasta el desierto de Bet-avén. 13 Después iba hasta el cerro, al sur de Betel, bajaba hasta Atarot-adar, sobre el cerro al sur de Bet-horón de abajo. 14 Luego la frontera giraba hacia el sur, desde el lado oeste del cerro, y llegaba a Quiriat-jearim. Esta ciudad pertenece a la tribu de Judá. Éstos eran los límites del lado oeste.
15 La frontera sur partía de las afueras de Quiriat-jearim, siguiendo hasta los manantiales de Neftóah. 16 Bajaba luego hasta la falda del cerro al norte del valle de Refaim, donde comienza el valle de Ben-hinom. Seguía por ese valle al sur del cerro de Jebús, hasta el manantial de En-roguel. 17 Continuaba después hacia el norte hasta En-semes, y de allí a Guelilot, que está frente al paso de Adumim. Luego bajaba hasta la Roca de Bohan hijo de Rubén, 18 y pasaba al norte de los cerros que están frente al valle del Jordán. De allí bajaba al valle, 19 pasaba al norte de Bet-hoglá, y terminaba en la bahía donde desemboca el río Jordán, al norte del Mar Muerto. Éstos eran los límites del lado sur.
20 El río Jordán formaba la frontera este. Tales eran los límites del territorio que fue entregado a la tribu de Benjamín.
21 Las ciudades que les tocaron a los grupos familiares de la tribu de Benjamín fueron Jericó, Bet-hoglá, Émec-quesís, 22 Bet-arabá, Semaraim, Betel, 23 Avim, Pará, Ofrá, 24 Quefar-haamoní, Ofní y Gueba, es decir, un total de doce ciudades con sus respectivas aldeas. 25 Había también otras catorce ciudades con sus aldeas: Gabaón, Ramá, Beerot, 26 Mispá, Quefirá, Mosá, 27 Réquem, Irpeel, Taralá, 28 Selá, Élef, Guibeá, Quiriat y Jebús, que después se llamó Jerusalén. Éste es el territorio que fue entregado a la tribu de Benjamín.

18 Then the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled at (A)Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there; and the land was subdued before them.
2 But there remained among the sons of Israel seven tribes who had not divided their inheritance. 3 So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, “(B)How long will you [a]put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? 4 Provide for yourselves three men from [b]each tribe so that I may send them, and that they may arise and walk through the land and write a description of it according to their inheritance; then they shall [c]return to me. 5 And they shall divide it into seven portions; (C)Judah shall stay in its territory on the south, and the house of Joseph shall stay in their territory on the north. 6 And you shall write a description of the land in seven divisions, and bring the description here to me. (D)Then I will cast lots for you here before the Lord our God. 7 For (E)the Levites have no portion among you, because the priesthood of the Lord is [d]their inheritance. Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh also have received their inheritance eastward beyond the Jordan, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.”
8 Then the men arose and went, and Joshua commanded those who went to write a description of the land, saying, “Go and walk through the land and write a description of it, and return to me; then I will cast lots for you here before the Lord in (F)Shiloh.” 9 So the men went and passed through the land, and wrote a description of it by cities in seven divisions in a book; and they came to Joshua at the camp at Shiloh. 10 (G)Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord, and there Joshua divided the land for the sons of Israel according to their divisions.
The Territory of Benjamin
11 Now the lot of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin came up according to their families, and the territory of their lot [e]lay between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph. 12 (H)Their border on the north side was from the Jordan, then the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north, and went up through the hill country westward, and [f]it ended at the wilderness of Beth-aven. 13 Then from there the border continued to (I)Luz, to the side of Luz (that is, Bethel) southward; and the border went down to Ataroth-addar, near the hill which lies on the south of (J)lower Beth-horon. 14 And the border changed direction from there and turned around on the west side southward, from the hill which lies opposite Beth-horon southward; and [g]it ended at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the sons of Judah. This was the west side. 15 Then the (K)south side was from the edge of Kiriath-jearim, and the border went westward and went to the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah. 16 Then the border went down to the edge of the hill which is [h]in the (L)Valley of Ben-hinnom, which is in the Valley of Rephaim northward; and it went down to the Valley of Hinnom, to the slope of the Jebusite southward, and went down to En-rogel. 17 Then it turned northward and went to En-shemesh, and went to Geliloth, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim, and it went down to the (M)stone of Bohan the son of Reuben. 18 And it continued to the side in front of the Arabah northward, and went down to the Arabah. 19 Then the border continued to the side of Beth-hoglah northward; and the [i]border ended at the north bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan. This was the southern border. 20 Moreover, the Jordan was its border on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families, and according to its borders all around.
21 Now the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, and Emek-keziz, 22 Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, and Bethel, 23 Avvim, Parah, and Ophrah, 24 Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, and (N)Geba; twelve cities with their villages. 25 Gibeon, Ramah, and Beeroth, 26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, and Mozah, 27 Rekem, Irpeel, and Taralah, 28 (O)Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, Kiriath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the (P)sons of Benjamin according to their families.
