Nagtayo ang mga Israelita ng Monumento
4 Nang makatawid na ang lahat ng mamamayan ng Israel sa Ilog ng Jordan, sinabi ng Panginoon kay Josue, 2 “Pumili ka ng 12 lalaki, isa sa bawat lahi, 3 at utusan ang bawat isa sa kanila na kumuha ng isang bato sa gitna ng ilog, doon sa kinatatayuan ng mga pari. Pagkatapos, dadalhin nila ito sa lugar na tutuluyan nʼyo ngayong gabi.”
4 Kaya tinawag ni Josue ang 12 lalaki na pinili niya mula sa bawat lahi ng Israel at sinabi, 5 “Pumunta kayo sa gitna ng ilog, sa harap ng Kahon ng Kasunduan ng Panginoon na inyong Dios. Ang bawat isa sa inyoʼy kumuha ng isang malaking bato para sa bawat lahi ng Israel at pasanin ito. 6 Gawin nʼyo agad itong monumento bilang alaala sa ginawa ng Panginoon. Sa darating na panahon, kapag nagtanong ang mga anak nʼyo kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng mga batong ito, 7 sabihin nʼyo sa kanila na huminto sa pagdaloy ang Ilog ng Jordan nang itinawid dito ang Kahon ng Kasunduan ng Panginoon. Ang mga batong ito ay isang alaala para sa mga mamamayan ng Israel magpakailanman.”
8 Sinunod ng 12 Israelita ang iniutos sa kanila ni Josue, ayon sa sinabi ng Panginoon. Kumuha sila ng 12 bato sa gitna ng ilog, isang bato para sa bawat lahi ng Israel. Dinala nila ang mga bato sa kampo nila at inilagay doon. 9 Naglagay din si Josue ng 12 bato sa gitna ng ilog, sa lugar na kinatatayuan mismo ng mga paring buhat ang Kahon ng Kasunduan. Hanggang ngayon nandoon pa ang mga batong iyon. 10 Nanatiling nakatayo sa gitna ng ilog ang mga pari hanggang sa matapos ng mga tao ang lahat ng iniutos ng Panginoon kay Josue, na ayon din sa iniutos ni Moises kay Josue.
11 Nang makatawid na silang lahat, itinawid din ang Kahon ng Kasunduan. At nauna ulit ang mga pari sa mga tao. 12 Tumawid din at nauna sa mga tao ang mga lalaking armado mula sa lahi nina Reuben, Gad at kalahating lahi ni Manase, ayon sa iniutos ni Moises sa kanila. 13 Ang 40,000 armadong lalaki ay dumaan sa presensya ng Panginoon[a] at pumunta sa Kapatagan ng Jerico para makipaglaban.
14 Nang araw na iyon, pinarangalan ng Panginoon si Josue sa harap ng mga Israelita. At iginalang si Josue ng mga tao sa buong buhay niya gaya ng ginawa ng mga tao kay Moises.
15 Pagkatawid noon ng mga Israelita sa Ilog ng Jordan, sinabi ng Panginoon kay Josue, 16 “Utusan mo ang mga paring may buhat ng Kahon ng Kasunduan, na umahon na sila sa Ilog ng Jordan.” 17 At sinunod iyon ni Josue. 18 Kaya umahon ang mga pari na dala ang Kahon ng Kasunduan ng Panginoon. At pagtapak nila sa pampang, dumaloy ulit ang tubig at umapaw gaya ng dati.
19 Ang pagtawid ng mga Israelita sa Ilog ng Jordan ay nangyari nang ikasampung araw ng unang buwan. Pagkatapos, nagkampo ang mga Israelita sa Gilgal, sa gawing silangan ng Jerico. 20 Doon ipinalagay ni Josue ang 12 bato na ipinakuha niya sa Ilog ng Jordan. 21 Sinabi ni Josue sa mga Israelita, “Sa darating na panahon, kapag nagtanong sa inyo ang mga anak nʼyo kung anong ibig sabihin ng mga batong ito, 22 sabihin nʼyo na lumakad sa tuyong lupa ang mga Israelita nang tumawid sila sa Ilog ng Jordan. 23 Sabihin nʼyo sa kanila na pinatuyo ng Panginoon na inyong Dios ang Ilog ng Jordan hanggang sa makatawid kayo, gaya ng ginawa niya sa Dagat na Pula hanggang sa makatawid tayo. 24 Ginawa niya ito para kilalanin ng lahat ng mga tao sa mundo na makapangyarihan ang Panginoon at upang lagi kayong magkaroon ng takot sa Panginoon na inyong Dios.”

4 When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan,(A) the Lord said to Joshua, 2 “Choose twelve men(B) from among the people, one from each tribe, 3 and tell them to take up twelve stones(C) from the middle of the Jordan,(D) from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.(E)”
4 So Joshua called together the twelve men(F) he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, 5 and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan.(G) Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, 6 to serve as a sign(H) among you. In the future, when your children(I) ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’(J) 7 tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off(K) before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial(L) to the people of Israel forever.”
8 So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones(M) from the middle of the Jordan,(N) according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua;(O) and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down. 9 Joshua set up the twelve stones(P) that had been[a] in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.(Q)
10 Now the priests who carried the ark remained standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything the Lord had commanded Joshua was done by the people, just as Moses had directed Joshua. The people hurried over, 11 and as soon as all of them had crossed, the ark of the Lord and the priests came to the other side while the people watched. 12 The men of Reuben,(R) Gad(S) and the half-tribe of Manasseh(T) crossed over, ready for battle, in front of the Israelites,(U) as Moses had directed them.(V) 13 About forty thousand armed for battle(W) crossed over(X) before the Lord to the plains of Jericho for war.
14 That day the Lord exalted(Y) Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they stood in awe of him all the days of his life, just as they had stood in awe of Moses.
15 Then the Lord said to Joshua, 16 “Command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant law(Z) to come up out of the Jordan.”
17 So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.”
18 And the priests came up out of the river carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord. No sooner had they set their feet on the dry ground than the waters of the Jordan returned to their place(AA) and ran at flood stage(AB) as before.
19 On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal(AC) on the eastern border of Jericho. 20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones(AD) they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’(AE) 22 tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’(AF) 23 For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea[b] when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over.(AG) 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know(AH) that the hand of the Lord is powerful(AI) and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.(AJ)”

Twelve Memorial Stones from the Jordan
4 When all the nation had finished passing (A)over the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, 2 (B)“Take twelve men from the people, from each tribe a man, 3 and command them, saying, ‘Take (C)twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place (D)where the priests' feet stood firmly, and bring them over with you and lay them down in (E)the place where you lodge tonight.’” 4 Then Joshua called the twelve men from the people of Israel, whom he had appointed, a man from each tribe. 5 And Joshua said to them, “Pass on before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, 6 that this may be a sign among you. (F)When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ 7 then you shall tell them that (G)the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel (H)a memorial forever.”
8 And the people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, just as the Lord told Joshua. And they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down[a] there. 9 And Joshua set up[b] twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, (I)in the place where the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there to this day. 10 For the priests bearing the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the Lord commanded Joshua to tell the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua.
The people passed over in haste. 11 And when all the people had finished passing over, the ark of the Lord and the priests passed over before the people. 12 The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh (J)passed over armed before the people of Israel, as Moses had told them. 13 About 40,000 ready for war passed over before the Lord for battle, to the plains of Jericho. 14 On that day the Lord (K)exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they stood in awe of him just as they had stood in awe of Moses, all the days of his life.
15 And the Lord said to Joshua, 16 “Command the priests bearing (L)the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan.” 17 So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.” 18 And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, (M)as before.
19 The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they encamped at (N)Gilgal on the east border of Jericho. 20 And (O)those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up at Gilgal. 21 And he said to the people of Israel, (P)“When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 then you shall let your children know, (Q)‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, (R)which he dried up for us until we passed over, 24 (S)so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is (T)mighty, that you may (U)fear the Lord your God forever.”[c]
