Stammarna får sina områden
Ytterligare områden att erövra
13 Josua var nu en mycket gammal man och Herren sa till honom: ”Du har nu blivit gammal och fortfarande återstår en stor del av landet att erövra.
2 Det som återstår är filistéernas alla landområden och allt geshureiskt land 3 från Shichor öster om Egypten och Ekrons område i norr som räknas som kanaaneiskt land, det som filistéernas fem hövdingar regerar över, nämligen Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gat och Ekron. Även avvéernas område hör dit 4 i söder och allt kanaaneiskt land från Meara som tillhör sidonierna och ända till Afek till amoréernas område, 5 gevaléernas land och hela Libanontrakten från Baal-Gad nedanför berget Hermon till Levo-Hamat.
6 Hela bergsbygdens invånare från Libanon till Misrefot Majim med sidoniernas områden ska jag driva bort för israeliternas skull, så lotta ut landet som egendom åt Israel, precis som jag befallt dig. 7 Dela nu ut landet som egendom åt de nio stammarna och den ena hälften av Manasses stam.”
Landet öster om Jordan delas upp
8 Den andra hälften av Manasses stam och Rubens och Gads stammar hade redan slagit sig ner i sina områden på östra sidan av Jordan, för Mose, Herrens tjänare, hade gett dem detta område.
9 Det sträckte sig från Aroer vid floden Arnon med staden i dalen inräknad och över Medevaslätten till Divon. 10 Det omfattade också alla de städer som tillhört amoréernas kung Sichon som regerade i Heshbon och sträckte sig ända bort till ammoniternas område. 11 Vidare hörde Gilead och geshuréernas och maakatéernas område dit samt hela Hermons bergsbygd och hela Bashan fram till Salka 12 och dessutom det område som tillhört kung Og i Bashan som regerade i Ashtarot och Edrei. Han var bland de sista av rafaéerna vilka Mose hade slagit och drivit bort. 13 Men Israels folk drev inte bort geshuréerna och maakatéerna som än idag bor kvar bland israeliterna.
14 Han gav dock inte Levis stam något landområde. De fick istället de eldoffer som frambars inför Herren, Israels Gud, enligt hans löfte till dem.
15 Mose hade tilldelat Rubens stam följande område, efter deras släkter.
16 Det sträckte sig från Aroer vid floden Arnon med staden i dalen inräknad och över Medevaslätten 17 till Heshbon och de andra städerna på slätten, Divon, Bamot Baal, Bet Baal Meon, 18 Jahas, Kedemot, Mefaat, 19 Kirjatajim, Sivma, Seret Hashachar på berget i dalen, 20 Bet Pegor samt Pisgas sluttningar och Bet Hajshimot 21 och också de övriga städerna på slätten, hela riket som tillhört den amoreiske kungen Sichon som hade bott i Heshbon och besegrats av Mose tillsammans med de midjanitiska hövdingarna Evi, Rekem, Sur, Hur och Reva, Sichons furstar, som bodde i landet. 22 Israels folk hade också dödat spåmannen Bileam, Beors son. 23 Floden Jordan utgjorde gräns för Rubens stam. Detta var rubeniternas egendom, efter deras släkter, med städer och byar.
24 Mose gav landområden också till Gads stam, efter deras släkter.
25 Området omfattade Jaser och alla städer i Gilead och hälften av ammoniternas land ända till Aroer i närheten av Rabba. 26 Det sträckte sig också från Heshbon ända till Ramat Hammispa och Betonim och från Machanajim ända till Lo Devars område. 27 I dalen fick de Bet Haram, Bet Nimra, Suckot, Safon, resten av landet som tillhört kung Sichon i Heshbon. Floden Jordan utgjorde gränsen upp till änden av Gennesaretsjön till flodens östra sida. 28 Detta var gaditernas egendom, efter deras släkter, med städer och byar.
29 Mose hade gett följande område till den ena hälften av Manasses stam, efter dess släkter.
30 Deras område sträckte sig norrut från Machanajim och omfattade hela Bashan, kung Ogs tidigare kungadöme, och alla Jairs sextio städer i Bashan. 31 Hälften av Gilead med kung Ogs huvudstäder Ashtarot och Edrei gavs åt ena hälften av ättlingarna till Makir, Manasses son, efter deras släkter.
32 På detta sätt delade Mose landet öster om Jordan på Moabs hedar mitt emot Jeriko. 33 Men Mose hade inte tilldelat Levis stam något område, för Herren, Israels Gud, var deras egendom, så som han hade lovat dem.

13 Då nu Josua var gammal och kommen till hög ålder, sade HERREN till honom: »Du är gammal och kommen till hög ålder, men ännu återstår av landet en mycket stor del som skall intagas.
2 Detta är nämligen vad som återstår av landet: alla filistéernas kretsar och hela gesuréernas land.
3 Ty allt som finnes mellan Sihor, öster om Egypten, och Ekrons område norrut räknas till Kananéernas land, nämligen vad filistéernas fem hövdingar innehava -- den i Gasa, den i Asdod, den i Askelon, den i Gat och den i Ekron -- så ock avéernas område,
4 hela kananéernas land söderut, vidare Meara, som tillhör sidonierna, ända till Afek, ända till amoréernas område.
5 och gebaléernas land samt hela Libanonstrakten österut, från Baal-Gad, nedanför berget Hermon, ända dit där vägen går till Hamat --
6 alla inbyggarna i bergsbygden, från Libanon ända till Misrefot-Maim, alla sidonier: dessa skall jag själv fördriva för Israels barn. Men fördela du genom lottkastning landet åt Israel till arvedel, såsom jag har bjudit dig.
7 Ja, redan nu må du utskifta detta land till arvedel åt de nio stammarna och åt ena hälften av Manasse stam.»
8 Jämte Manasse hade ock rubeniterna och gaditerna fått sin arvedel, den som Mose gav dem på andra sidan Jordan, på östra sidan, just såsom HERRENS tjänare Mose gav den åt dem:
9 landet från Aroer, vid bäcken Arnons strand, och från staden i dalens mitt, så ock hela Medebaslätten ända till Dibon,
10 jämte alla övriga städer som hade tillhört Sihon, amoréernas konung, vilken regerade i Hesbon, ända till Ammons barns område,
11 vidare Gilead och gesuréernas och maakatéernas område och hela Hermons bergsbygd och hela Basan ända till Salka,
12 hela Ogs rike i Basan, hans som regerade i Astarot och Edrei, och som levde kvar såsom en av de sista rafaéerna, sedan Mose hade slagit och fördrivit dem.
13 Dock fördrevo Israels barn icke gesuréerna och maakatéerna; därför bodde ock gesuréer och maakatéer kvar bland Israels folk, såsom de göra ännu i dag.
14 (Men åt Levi stam gav han icke någon arvedel. HERRENS, Israels Guds, eldsoffer äro hans arvedel, såsom han har sagt honom.)
15 Mose gav alltså land åt Rubens barns stam, efter deras släkter.
16 De fingo området från Aroer, vid bäcken Arnons strand, och från staden i dalens mitt, så ock hela slätten vid Medeba,
17 Hesbon med alla dess lydstäder på slätten, Dibon, Bamot-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meon,
18 Jahas, Kedemot, Mefaat,
19 Kirjataim, Sibma, Seret-Hassahar på Dalberget,
20 Bet-Peor samt Pisgas sluttningar och Bet-Hajesimot,
21 alla städerna på slätten, hela Sihons rike, amoréernas konungs, hans som regerade i Hesbon, och som hade blivit slagen av Mose jämte de midjanitiska hövdingarna Evi, Rekem, Sur, Hur och Reba, Sihons lydfurstar, som bodde där i landet.
22 Bileam, Beors son, spåmannen, dräptes ock av Israels barn med svärd, jämte andra som då blevo slagna av dem.
23 Och gränsen för Rubens barn var Jordan; den utgjorde gränsen. Detta är Rubens barns arvedel, efter deras släkter, städerna med sina byar.
24 Likaledes gav Mose land åt Gads stam, åt Gads barn, efter deras släkter.
25 De fingo till sitt område Jaeser och alla städer i Gilead och hälften av Ammons barns land, ända till det Aroer som ligger gent emot Rabba,
26 vidare landet från Hesbon ända till Ramat-Hammispe och Betonim, och från Mahanaim ända till Lidebirs område,
27 samt i dalen: Bet-Haram, Bet-Nimra, Suckot och Safon, det övriga av Sihons rike, konungens i Hesbon, intill Jordan, som utgjorde gränsen, upp till ändan av Kinneretsjön, landet på andra sidan Jordan, på östra sidan.
28 Detta är Gads barns arvedel, efter deras släkter, städerna med sina byar.
29 Och Mose gav också land åt ena hälften av Manasse stam, så att denna hälft av Manasse barns stam fick land, efter sina släkter.
30 Deras område utgjordes av landet från Mahanaim, av hela Basan, hela Ogs rike, konungens i Basan, med alla Jairs byar i Basan, sextio städer,
31 alltså ock av halva Gilead jämte Astarot och Edrei, Ogs huvudstäder i Basan; detta gavs åt Makirs, Manasses sons, barn, nämligen åt ena hälften av Makirs barn, efter deras släkter.
32 Dessa voro de arvslotter som Mose utskiftade på Moabs hedar, på andra sidan Jordan mitt emot Jeriko, på östra sidan.
33 Men åt Levi stam gav Mose icke någon arvedel. HERREN, Israels Gud, är deras arvedel, såsom han har sagt dem.

The Message
The Receiving of the Land
13 1-6 When Joshua had reached a venerable age, God said to him, “You’ve had a good, long life, but there is a lot of land still to be taken. This is the land that remains:
all the districts of the Philistines and Geshurites;
the land from the Shihor River east of Egypt to the border of Ekron up north, Canaanite country (there were five Philistine tyrants—in Gaza, in Ashdod, in Ashkelon, in Gath, in Ekron); also the Avvim from the south;
all the Canaanite land from Arah (belonging to the Sidonians) to Aphek at the Amorite border;
the country of the Gebalites;
all Lebanon eastward from Baal Gad in the shadow of Mount Hermon to the Entrance of Hamath;
all who live in the mountains, from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim;
all the Sidonians.
6-7 “I myself will drive them out before the People of Israel. All you have to do is allot this land to Israel as an inheritance, as I have instructed you. Do it now: Allot this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.”
Land East of the Jordan
8 The other half-tribe of Manasseh, with the Reubenites and Gadites, had been given their inheritance by Moses on the other side of the Jordan eastward. Moses the servant of God gave it to them.
9-13 This land extended from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon Gorge and the city in the middle of the valley, taking in the entire tableland of Medeba as far as Dibon, and all the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled from Heshbon, and out to the border of the Ammonites. It also included Gilead, the country of the people of Geshur and Maacah, all of Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah—the whole kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei. He was one of the last survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had defeated them and taken their land. The People of Israel never did drive out the Geshurites and the Maacathites—they’re still there, living in Israel.
14 Levi was the only tribe that did not receive an inheritance. The Fire-Gift-Offerings to God, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, just as he told them.
Reuben
15-22 To the tribe of Reuben, clan by clan, Moses gave:
the land from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon Gorge and the town in the middle of the valley, including the tableland around Medeba;
Heshbon on the tableland with all its towns (Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon, Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath, Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth Shahar on Valley Mountain, Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth Jeshimoth);
and all the cities of the tableland, the whole kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled at Heshbon, whom Moses put to death along with the princes of Midian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, who lived in that country, all puppets of Sihon. (In addition to those killed in battle, Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, was put to death by the People of Israel.)
23 The boundary for the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan River. This was the inheritance of the Reubenites, their villages and cities, according to their clans.
Gad
24-27 To the tribe of Gad, clan by clan, Moses gave:
the territory of Jazer and all the towns of Gilead and half the Ammonite country as far as Aroer near Rabbah;
the land from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the region of Debir;
in the valley: Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, with the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon (the east side of the Jordan, north to the end of the Sea of Kinnereth).
28 This was the inheritance of the Gadites, their cities and villages, clan by clan.
Half-Tribe of Manasseh
29-31 To the half-tribe of Manasseh, clan by clan, Moses gave:
the land stretching out from Mahanaim;
all of Bashan, which is the entire kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the settlements of Jair in Bashan—sixty towns in all.
Half of Gilead with Ashtaroth and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, belong to the descendants of Makir, a son of Manasseh (in other words, the half-tribe of the children of Makir) for their clans.
32-33 This is the inheritance that Moses gave out when he was on the plains of Moab across the Jordan east of Jericho. But Moses gave no inheritance to the tribe of Levi. God, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, just as he told them.

13 Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
2 This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
3 From Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
4 From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:
5 And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baalgad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
6 All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephothmaim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
7 Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
8 With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the Lord gave them;
9 From Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Medeba unto Dibon;
10 And all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the children of Ammon;

14 Only unto the tribes of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
15 And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families.
16 And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
17 Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamothbaal, and Bethbaalmeon,
18 And Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,

23 And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
24 And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad according to their families.
25 And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;
26 And from Heshbon unto Ramathmizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;
27 And in the valley, Betharam, and Bethnimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward.
28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
29 And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh: and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.
30 And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:
31 And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
32 These are the countries which Moses did distribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by Jericho, eastward.
33 But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
