¹⁷ So the Israelites set out and on the third day came to their cities: Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth^(A) and Kiriath Jearim.^(B)

¹⁰ The Lord threw them into confusion^(A) before Israel,^(B) so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon.^(C) Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon^(D) and cut them down all the way to Azekah^(E) and Makkedah.^(F)

¹⁹ Except for the Hivites^(A) living in Gibeon,^(B) not one city made a treaty of peace^(C) with the Israelites, who took them all in battle.

¹² Abner son of Ner, together with the men of Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, left Mahanaim and went to Gibeon.^(A)

²⁵ So David did as the Lord commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines^(A) all the way from Gibeon^[a](B) to Gezer.^(C)
