Joshua 8:7-9
Modern English Version

7 Then you shall rise up for the ambush and take possession of the city. The Lord your God will give it into your hands. 8 When you have seized the city, set it on fire. Act according to the word of the Lord. See, I have commanded you.”

9 So Joshua sent them out. They went to the place of ambush and took up a position between Bethel and Ai, westward of Ai, and Joshua spent the night among the people.

7 Then you rise up from your hiding place[a] and seize[b] the city. The Lord your God will hand it over to you. 8 When you capture the city, set it[c] on fire in keeping with the Lord’s message. See, I have given you orders.”[d] 9 Joshua sent them away and they went to their hiding place[e] west of Ai, between Bethel and Ai.[f] Joshua spent that night with the army.[g]
