2 After three days the leaders went through the camp 3 and commanded the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God[a] being carried by the Levitical priests, you must leave here[b] and walk[c] behind it. 4 But stay about 3,000 feet behind it.[d] Keep your distance[e] so you can see[f] which way you should go, for you have not traveled this way before.”

2 After three days(A) the officers(B) went throughout the camp,(C) 3 giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant(D) of the Lord your God, and the Levitical(E) priests(F) carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4 Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits[a](G) between you and the ark; do not go near it.”
