¹⁵ As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.^(A)

⁷ “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey^(A) all the law^(B) my servant Moses^(C) gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left,^(D) that you may be successful wherever you go.^(E)

²⁰ You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything^(A) that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.

² and when the Lord your God has delivered^(A) them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy^(B) them totally.^[a](C) Make no treaty^(D) with them, and show them no mercy.^(E)

¹¹ Obey what I command^(A) you today. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.^{(B) 12} Be careful not to make a treaty^(C) with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare^(D) among you. ¹³ Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles.^[a](E)

²⁷ For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.^(A)

¹² Also in Judah the hand of God was on the people to give them unity^(A) of mind to carry out what the king and his officials had ordered, following the word of the Lord.

⁷ Then Moses summoned Joshua and said^(A) to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them,^(B) and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.

³² See that you do all I command you; do not add^(A) to it or take away from it.^[a]
