Amplified Bible
7 So Joshua [a]went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the men of valor. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, because I have given them into your hand; not [b]one of them shall stand before you.” 9 So Joshua came upon them suddenly, [surprising them] by marching [uphill] all night from Gilgal.

- Joshua 10:7 The verb went up is quite literal at this point. The distance between Gilgal and Gibeon is not great, but the distance is all steeply uphill.

7 So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army,(A) including all the best fighting men. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid(B) of them; I have given them into your hand.(C) Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”(D)
9 After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.
