⁸ But they said to Joshua, “^(A)We are your servants.” Then Joshua said to them, “Who are you and where do you come from?”

¹¹ So our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, ‘Take provisions in your hand for the journey, and go to meet them and say to them, “^(A)We are your servants; now then, make a covenant with us.”’

⁴ The king of Israel replied, “It is according to your word, my lord, O king; I am yours, and all that I have.”

³² So ^(A)they girded sackcloth on their loins and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel and said, “^(B)Your servant Ben-hadad says, ‘Please let me live.’” And he said, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

¹⁴ Then Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “^(A)I have done wrong. ^[a]Withdraw from me; whatever you ^[b]impose on me I will bear.” So the king of Assyria ^[c]required of Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
