12 The Israelites are unable to stand before their enemies; they retreat because they have become subject to annihilation.[a] I will no longer be with you,[b] unless you destroy what has contaminated you.[c] 13 Get up! Ritually consecrate the people and tell them this: ‘Ritually consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, because this is what the Lord God of Israel has said, “You are contaminated,[d] O Israel! You will not be able to stand before your enemies until you remove what is contaminating you.”[e] 14 In the morning you must approach in tribal order.[f] The tribe the Lord selects[g] must approach by clans. The clan the Lord selects must approach by families.[h] The family the Lord selects must approach man by man.[i]

13 “Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves(F) in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove them.

14 “‘In the morning, present(G) yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe the Lord chooses(H) shall come forward clan by clan; the clan the Lord chooses shall come forward family by family; and the family the Lord chooses shall come forward man by man.
