A Reminder of the Crossing
4 The whole nation finished crossing the Jordan River. The Lord had told Joshua, 2 “Choose one man from each of the 12 tribes. 3 Order them to pick up 12 stones from the middle of the Jordan, where the priests’ feet stood firmly. Take the stones along with you, and set them down where you will camp tonight.”
4 Joshua called the 12 men whom he had selected (one from each tribe). 5 He said to them, “Go to the middle of the Jordan River in front of the ark of the Lord your God. Each man must take a stone on his shoulder, one for each tribe of Israel. 6 This will be a sign for you. In the future your children will ask, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ 7 You should answer, ‘The water of the Jordan River was cut off in front of the ark of the Lord’s promise. When the ark crossed the Jordan, the river stopped flowing. These stones are a permanent reminder for the people of Israel.’ ”
8 The people of Israel did as Joshua had ordered. They took 12 stones, one for each of the tribes of Israel. They took them from the middle of the Jordan as the Lord had told Joshua. They carried them to the camp and set them down there.
9 Joshua also set 12 stones in the middle of the Jordan River, where the priests who carried the ark of the promise had stood. The stones are still there today.
10 The priests who carried the ark remained standing in the middle of the Jordan. They stood there until everything the Lord had ordered Joshua to tell the people had been carried out. This was as Moses had told Joshua. The people hurried to the other side. 11 As soon as everyone had crossed, the priests with the Lord’s ark crossed and went ahead of them.
12 The men of Reuben, Gad, and half of the tribe of Manasseh did as Moses had told them. They marched across in battle formation ahead of the people of Israel. 13 About 40,000 armed men crossed the river in front of the Lord to the plains of Jericho for battle.
14 On that day the Lord honored Joshua in the presence of all the Israelites. As long as Joshua lived, the Israelites respected him in the same way they had respected Moses.
15 The Lord said to Joshua, 16 “Order the priests who carry the ark of the testimony to come out of the Jordan River.”
17 So Joshua ordered the priests, “Come out of the Jordan.”
18 The priests who carried the ark of the Lord’s promise came out of the middle of the Jordan. When their feet stepped onto dry land, the water of the Jordan returned to its seasonal flood level.
19 On the tenth day of the first month, the people came out of the Jordan River. They made their camp at Gilgal, just east of Jericho. 20 At Gilgal Joshua set up the 12 stones they had taken from the Jordan. 21 He said to the people of Israel, “In the future when children ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 the children should be told that Israel crossed the Jordan River on dry ground. 23 The Lord your God dried up the Jordan ahead of you until you had crossed, as he did to the Red Sea until we had crossed. 24 The Lord did this so that everyone in the world would know his mighty power and that you would fear the Lord your God every day of your life.”

Twelve Memorial Stones from the Jordan
4 When all the nation had finished passing (A)over the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, 2 (B)“Take twelve men from the people, from each tribe a man, 3 and command them, saying, ‘Take (C)twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place (D)where the priests' feet stood firmly, and bring them over with you and lay them down in (E)the place where you lodge tonight.’” 4 Then Joshua called the twelve men from the people of Israel, whom he had appointed, a man from each tribe. 5 And Joshua said to them, “Pass on before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, 6 that this may be a sign among you. (F)When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ 7 then you shall tell them that (G)the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel (H)a memorial forever.”
8 And the people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, just as the Lord told Joshua. And they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down[a] there. 9 And Joshua set up[b] twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, (I)in the place where the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there to this day. 10 For the priests bearing the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the Lord commanded Joshua to tell the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua.
The people passed over in haste. 11 And when all the people had finished passing over, the ark of the Lord and the priests passed over before the people. 12 The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh (J)passed over armed before the people of Israel, as Moses had told them. 13 About 40,000 ready for war passed over before the Lord for battle, to the plains of Jericho. 14 On that day the Lord (K)exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they stood in awe of him just as they had stood in awe of Moses, all the days of his life.
15 And the Lord said to Joshua, 16 “Command the priests bearing (L)the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan.” 17 So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.” 18 And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, (M)as before.
19 The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they encamped at (N)Gilgal on the east border of Jericho. 20 And (O)those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up at Gilgal. 21 And he said to the people of Israel, (P)“When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 then you shall let your children know, (Q)‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, (R)which he dried up for us until we passed over, 24 (S)so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is (T)mighty, that you may (U)fear the Lord your God forever.”[c]

13 About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the Lord unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14 On that day the Lord magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 And the Lord spake unto Joshua, saying,
16 Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
18 And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
21 And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
22 Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever.

GOD’S WORD Translation
23 Later the Jews planned to murder Saul, 24 but Saul was told about their plot. They were watching the city gates day and night in order to murder him. 25 However, Saul’s disciples lowered him in a large basket through an opening in the wall one night.
26 After Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples. But everyone was afraid of him. They wouldn’t believe that he was a disciple.
27 Then Barnabas took an interest in Saul and brought him to the apostles. Barnabas told the apostles how Saul had seen the Lord on the road and that the Lord had spoken to him. Barnabas also told them how boldly Saul had spoken about the one named Jesus in the city of Damascus. 28 Then Saul went throughout Jerusalem with the disciples. He spoke boldly with the power and authority of the Lord.
29 He talked and argued with Greek-speaking Jews, but they tried to murder him. 30 As soon as the disciples found out about this, they took Saul to Caesarea and sent him to Tarsus.
31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace. The number of people increased as people lived in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
Peter Heals Aeneas
32 When Peter was going around to all of God’s people, he came to those who lived in the city of Lydda. 33 In Lydda Peter found a man named Aeneas who was paralyzed and confined to a cot for eight years.
34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you well. Get up, and pick up your cot.” Aeneas immediately got up.
35 Everyone who lived in the city of Lydda and the coastal region of Sharon saw what had happened to Aeneas and turned to the Lord in faith.
Peter Brings Tabitha Back to Life
36 A disciple named Tabitha lived in the city of Joppa. Her Greek name was Dorcas. She always helped people and gave things to the poor. 37 She became sick and died. Her body was prepared for burial and was laid in an upstairs room.
38 Lydda is near the city of Joppa. When the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him. They begged Peter, “Hurry to Joppa! We need your help!”
39 So Peter went with them. When he arrived, he was taken upstairs. All the widows stood around him. They were crying and showing Peter the articles of clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
40 Peter made everyone leave the room.
He knelt and prayed. Then he turned toward the body and said, “Tabitha, get up!”
Tabitha opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up. 41 Peter took her hand and helped her stand up. After he called the believers, especially the widows, he presented Tabitha to them. She was alive.
42 The news about this spread throughout the city of Joppa, and as a result, many people believed in the Lord.
43 Peter stayed in Joppa for a number of days with Simon, a leatherworker.

31 So (P)the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And (Q)walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, (R)it multiplied.
The Healing of Aeneas
32 Now (S)as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda. 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, bedridden for eight years, who was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, (T)Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose. 35 (U)And all the residents of Lydda and (V)Sharon saw him, and (W)they turned to the Lord.
Dorcas Restored to Life
36 Now there was in (X)Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas.[d] She was full of (Y)good works and acts of charity. 37 In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in (Z)an upper room. 38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, (AA)“Please come to us without delay.” 39 So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to (AB)the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics[e] and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. 40 But Peter (AC)put them all outside, and (AD)knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body (AE)he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and (AF)many believed in the Lord. 43 And he stayed in Joppa for many days (AG)with one Simon, a tanner.

36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

23 Pasados muchos días, los judíos resolvieron en consejo matarle; 24 pero sus asechanzas llegaron a conocimiento de Saulo. Y ellos guardaban las puertas de día y de noche para matarle. 25 Entonces los discípulos, tomándole de noche, le bajaron por el muro, descolgándole en una canasta.(A)
Saulo en Jerusalén
26 Cuando llegó a Jerusalén, trataba de juntarse con los discípulos; pero todos le tenían miedo, no creyendo que fuese discípulo. 27 Entonces Bernabé, tomándole, lo trajo a los apóstoles, y les contó cómo Saulo había visto en el camino al Señor, el cual le había hablado, y cómo en Damasco había hablado valerosamente en el nombre de Jesús. 28 Y estaba con ellos en Jerusalén; y entraba y salía, 29 y hablaba denodadamente en el nombre del Señor, y disputaba con los griegos; pero estos procuraban matarle. 30 Cuando supieron esto los hermanos, le llevaron hasta Cesarea, y le enviaron a Tarso.
31 Entonces las iglesias tenían paz por toda Judea, Galilea y Samaria; y eran edificadas, andando en el temor del Señor, y se acrecentaban fortalecidas por el Espíritu Santo.
Curación de Eneas
32 Aconteció que Pedro, visitando a todos, vino también a los santos que habitaban en Lida. 33 Y halló allí a uno que se llamaba Eneas, que hacía ocho años que estaba en cama, pues era paralítico. 34 Y le dijo Pedro: Eneas, Jesucristo te sana; levántate, y haz tu cama. Y en seguida se levantó. 35 Y le vieron todos los que habitaban en Lida y en Sarón, los cuales se convirtieron al Señor.
Dorcas es resucitada
36 Había entonces en Jope una discípula llamada Tabita, que traducido quiere decir, Dorcas. Esta abundaba en buenas obras y en limosnas que hacía. 37 Y aconteció que en aquellos días enfermó y murió. Después de lavada, la pusieron en una sala. 38 Y como Lida estaba cerca de Jope, los discípulos, oyendo que Pedro estaba allí, le enviaron dos hombres, a rogarle: No tardes en venir a nosotros. 39 Levantándose entonces Pedro, fue con ellos; y cuando llegó, le llevaron a la sala, donde le rodearon todas las viudas, llorando y mostrando las túnicas y los vestidos que Dorcas hacía cuando estaba con ellas. 40 Entonces, sacando a todos, Pedro se puso de rodillas y oró; y volviéndose al cuerpo, dijo: Tabita, levántate. Y ella abrió los ojos, y al ver a Pedro, se incorporó. 41 Y él, dándole la mano, la levantó; entonces, llamando a los santos y a las viudas, la presentó viva. 42 Esto fue notorio en toda Jope, y muchos creyeron en el Señor. 43 Y aconteció que se quedó muchos días en Jope en casa de un cierto Simón, curtidor.

23 Когда же прошло довольно времени, Иудеи согласились убить его.
24 Но Савл узнал об этом умысле их. А они день и ночь стерегли у ворот, чтобы убить его.
25 Ученики же ночью, взяв его, спустили по стене в корзине.
26 Савл прибыл в Иерусалим и старался пристать к ученикам; но все боялись его, не веря, что он ученик.
27 Варнава же, взяв его, пришел к Апостолам и рассказал им, как на пути он видел Господа, и что говорил ему Господь, и как он в Дамаске смело проповедывал во имя Иисуса.
28 И пребывал он с ними, входя и исходя, в Иерусалиме, и смело проповедывал во имя Господа Иисуса.
29 Говорил также и состязался с Еллинистами; а они покушались убить его.
30 Братия, узнав [о сем], отправили его в Кесарию и препроводили в Тарс.
31 Церкви же по всей Иудее, Галилее и Самарии были в покое, назидаясь и ходя в страхе Господнем; и, при утешении от Святаго Духа, умножались.
32 Случилось, что Петр, обходя всех, пришел и к святым, живущим в Лидде.
33 Там нашел он одного человека, именем Энея, который восемь уже лет лежал в постели в расслаблении.
34 Петр сказал ему: Эней! исцеляет тебя Иисус Христос; встань с постели твоей. И он тотчас встал.
35 И видели его все, живущие в Лидде и в Сароне, которые и обратились к Господу.
36 В Иоппии находилась одна ученица, именем Тавифа, что значит: 'серна'; она была исполнена добрых дел и творила много милостынь.
37 Случилось в те дни, что она занемогла и умерла. Ее омыли и положили в горнице.
38 А как Лидда была близ Иоппии, то ученики, услышав, что Петр находится там, послали к нему двух человек просить, чтобы он не замедлил придти к ним.
39 Петр, встав, пошел с ними; и когда он прибыл, ввели его в горницу, и все вдовицы со слезами предстали перед ним, показывая рубашки и платья, какие делала Серна, живя с ними.
40 Петр выслал всех вон и, преклонив колени, помолился, и, обратившись к телу, сказал: Тавифа! встань. И она открыла глаза свои и, увидев Петра, села.
41 Он, подав ей руку, поднял ее, и, призвав святых и вдовиц, поставил ее перед ними живою.
42 Это сделалось известным по всей Иоппии, и многие уверовали в Господа.
43 И довольно дней пробыл он в Иоппии у некоторого Симона кожевника.
