10 For we heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you left Egypt and how you annihilated the two Amorite kings, Sihon and Og, on the other side of the Jordan.[a] 11 When we heard the news we lost our courage and no one could even breathe for fear of you.[b] For the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below! 12 So now, promise me this with an oath sworn in the Lord’s name.[c] Because I have shown allegiance to you, show allegiance to my family.[d] Give me a solemn pledge[e]

10 We have heard how the Lord dried up(A) the water of the Red Sea[a] for you when you came out of Egypt,(B) and what you did to Sihon and Og,(C) the two kings of the Amorites(D) east of the Jordan,(E) whom you completely destroyed.[b](F) 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear(G) and everyone’s courage failed(H) because of you,(I) for the Lord your God(J) is God in heaven above and on the earth(K) below.
12 “Now then, please swear to me(L) by the Lord that you will show kindness(M) to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign(N)
