21 At that time Joshua also wiped out the people of Anak in the mountains, in Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and in all the hills of Judah and Israel. Joshua claimed them for the Lord by destroying them and their cities. 22 None of the people of Anak remained in Israel. Some of them were left in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod. 23 Joshua captured the whole land as the Lord had promised Moses. He gave it to Israel as a possession, dividing it among the tribes. So the land had peace.

21 At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites(A) from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir(B) and Anab,(C) from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns. 22 No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza,(D) Gath(E) and Ashdod(F) did any survive.

23 So Joshua took the entire land,(G) just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance(H) to Israel according to their tribal divisions.(I) Then the land had rest(J) from war.(K)
