And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua (A)at the camp in Gilgal, saying, “Do not relax your hand from your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the hill country are gathered against us.” So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and (B)all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor. And the Lord said to Joshua, (C)“Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands. (D)Not a man of them shall stand before you.” So Joshua came upon them suddenly, having marched up all night from Gilgal. 10 (E)And the Lord threw them into a panic before Israel, who[a] struck them with a great blow at Gibeon and chased them by the way of (F)the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah. 11 And as they fled before Israel, while they were (G)going down the ascent of Beth-horon, (H)the Lord threw down large stones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died because of the hailstones than the sons of Israel killed with the sword.

The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal:(A) “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.”

So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army,(B) including all the best fighting men. The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid(C) of them; I have given them into your hand.(D) Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”(E)

After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. 10 The Lord threw them into confusion(F) before Israel,(G) so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon.(H) Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon(I) and cut them down all the way to Azekah(J) and Makkedah.(K) 11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones(L) down on them,(M) and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.
