Defeating Southern Cities
29 Joshua and all the Israelites traveled from Makkedah to Libnah and attacked it. 30 The Lord handed over the city and its king. They ·killed [L struck with the edge of the sword] every person in the city; no one was left alive. And they did the same thing to that king that they had done to the king of Jericho.
31 Then Joshua and all the Israelites left Libnah and went to Lachish, which they ·surrounded [took up positions against; besieged] and attacked.

New International Version
29 Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Makkedah to Libnah(A) and attacked it. 30 The Lord also gave that city and its king into Israel’s hand. The city and everyone in it Joshua put to the sword. He left no survivors there. And he did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.
31 Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Libnah to Lachish;(B) he took up positions against it and attacked it.
