⁹ Joshua also set up twelve stones^[a] in the middle of the Jordan in the very place where the priests carrying the ark of the covenant stood. They remain there to this very day.

²⁶ Then they erected over him a large pile of stones (it remains to this very day^[a]) and the Lord’s anger subsided. So that place is called the Valley of Disaster to this very day.

²⁹ He hung the king of Ai on a tree, leaving him exposed until evening.^[a] At sunset Joshua ordered that his corpse be taken down from the tree.^[b] They threw it down at the entrance of the city gate and erected over it a large pile of stones (it remains to this very day).^[c]

²⁷ At sunset Joshua ordered his men to take them down from the trees.^[a] They threw them into the cave where they had hidden and piled large stones over the mouth of the cave. (They remain to this very day.)^[b]

¹⁸ The gold mice corresponded in number to all the Philistine cities of the five leaders, from the fortified cities to hamlet villages, to greater Abel.^[a] They positioned the ark of the Lord on a rock until this very day in the field of Joshua who was from Beth Shemesh.
