⁹ So they said to him: ^(A)“From a very far country your servants have come, because of the name of the Lord your God; for we have ^(B)heard of His fame, and all that He did in Egypt,

²⁴ So they answered Joshua and said, “Because your servants were clearly told that the Lord your God ^(A)commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; therefore ^(B)we were very much afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

¹⁵ Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far from you, which are not of the cities of these nations.

⁹ and said to the men: ^(A)“I know that the Lord has given you the land, that ^(B)the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land ^(C)are fainthearted because of you. ¹⁰ For we have heard how the Lord ^(D)dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and ^(E)what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you ^(F)utterly destroyed.

^19 (A)I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and ^[a]Pul and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. ^(B)And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles.
