²⁶ For Joshua did not draw back the hand that held out his javelin^(A) until he had destroyed^[a](B) all who lived in Ai.^(C)

¹¹ As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning,^(A) but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. ¹² When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.^(B)

¹⁸ Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Hold out toward Ai the javelin^(A) that is in your hand,^(B) for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out toward the city the javelin that was in his hand.^(C)
