¹⁸ Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Stretch out the spear that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.” And Joshua stretched out the spear that was in his hand toward the city.

²⁶ For Joshua did not draw back his hand, with which he stretched out the spear, until he had ^(A)utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. ^(A)But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have ^(B)defied.

⁴¹ So the Philistine came, and began drawing near to David, and the man who bore the shield went before him.

⁶ And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders.

⁷ Then you shall rise from the ambush and seize the city, for the Lord your God will deliver it into your hand.

⁹ And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with ^(A)the rod of God in my hand.” ¹⁰ So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ And so it was, when Moses ^(B)held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. ¹² But Moses’ hands became ^[a]heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

¹⁶ But ^(A)lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
