¹⁶ So all the people who were in Ai were called together to pursue them. And they pursued Joshua and were drawn away from the city.

³¹ So the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city. They began to strike down and kill some of the people, as at the other times, in the highways ^(A)(one of which goes up to Bethel and the other to Gibeah) and in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

^19 (A)And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. ^20 (B)Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and ^(C)those who worshiped his image. ^(D)These two were cast alive into the lake of fire ^(E)burning with brimstone. ²¹ And the rest ^(F)were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. ^(G)And all the birds ^(H)were filled with their flesh.

¹⁴ For they are spirits of demons, ^(A)performing signs, which go out to the kings ^[a]of the earth and of ^(B)the whole world, to gather them to ^(C)the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

¹¹ You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of ^(A)unwalled villages; I will ^(B)go to a peaceful people, ^(C)who dwell ^[a]safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— ¹² to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, ^(D)and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land. ^13 (E)Sheba, ^(F)Dedan, the merchants ^(G)of Tarshish, and all ^(H)their young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’ ” ’

¹⁴ “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God: ^(I)“On that day when My people Israel ^(J)dwell safely, will you not know it? ^15 (K)Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. ¹⁶ You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may ^(L)know Me, when I am ^(M)hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” ¹⁷ Thus says the Lord God: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them?

Judgment on Gog

¹⁸ “And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord God, “that My fury will show in My face. ¹⁹ For ^(N)in My jealousy ^(O)and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: ^(P)‘Surely in that day there shall be a great ^[b]earthquake in the land of Israel, ²⁰ so that ^(Q)the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. ^(R)The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’ ²¹ I will ^(S)call for ^(T)a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. ^(U)“Every man’s sword will be against his brother. ²² And I will ^(V)bring him to judgment with ^(W)pestilence and bloodshed; ^(X)I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, ^(Y)great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

³⁶ So the children of Benjamin saw that they were defeated. ^(A)The men of Israel had given ground to the Benjamites, because they relied on the men in ambush whom they had set against Gibeah. ^37 (B)And the men in ambush quickly rushed upon Gibeah; the men in ambush spread out and struck the whole city with the edge of the sword. ³⁸ Now the appointed signal between the men of Israel and the men in ambush was that they would make a great cloud of ^(C)smoke rise up from the city, ³⁹ whereupon the men of Israel would turn in battle. Now Benjamin had begun ^[a]to strike and kill about thirty of the men of Israel. For they said, “Surely they are defeated before us, as in the first battle.”

⁵ Then I and all the people who are with me will approach the city; and it will come about, when they come out against us as at the first, that ^(A)we shall flee before them. ⁶ For they will come out after us till we have drawn them from the city, for they will say, ‘They are fleeing before us as at the first.’ Therefore we will flee before them.
