³ Then they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Not all the people need go up; about two or three thousand men should go up and attack Ai. Since they are so few, do not make the whole people toil up there.”

¹¹ And we want each one of you to show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope to the very end,^{(A) 12} so that you may not become sluggish but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.^(B)

¹⁰ Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble.

⁵ For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with excellence, and excellence with knowledge,^(A)

¹¹ Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.

²⁴ “Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.^(A)
