²⁵ And Joshua said, ^(A)“Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.” ^(B)So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.

¹⁸ And you, ^(A)by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, ^(B)and trouble it.

⁷ The son of ^(A)Carmi was ^[a]Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the ^(B)accursed^[b] thing.

⁵ then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and ^(A)shall stone ^(B)to death that man or woman with stones.

¹⁴ “Take outside the camp him who has cursed; then let all who heard him ^(A)lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. ^(A)For they have even taken some of the ^[a]accursed things, and have both stolen and ^(B)deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. ^12 (C)Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because ^(D)they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you. ¹³ Get up, ^(E)sanctify^[b] the people, and say, ^(F)‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.”

^2 (A)“Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ^(B)‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who ^[a]dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall ^(C)stone him with stones.

¹⁵ looking carefully lest anyone ^(A)fall short of the grace of God; lest any ^(B)root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;

^6 (A)since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with ^[a]tribulation those who trouble you,
