⁹ Then the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away ^(A)the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of the place is called ^(B)Gilgal^[a] to this day.

¹⁹ Now the people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they camped ^(A)in Gilgal on the east border of Jericho.

¹⁴ And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is ^(A)uncircumcised, for ^(B)that would be a reproach to us.

²⁶ Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away ^(A)the reproach from Israel? For who is this ^(B)uncircumcised Philistine, that he should ^(C)defy the armies of ^(D)the living God?”

¹⁴ “Take outside the camp him who has cursed; then let all who heard him ^(A)lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

Brought Near by His Blood

¹¹ Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called ^(A)the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— ¹² that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

⁷ Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, ^(A)throw away ^(B)the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with ^(C)the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ ⁸ But they rebelled against Me and would not ^[a]obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, ‘I will ^(D)pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’
