¹⁴ “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown^(A) to the ground^(B) in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord^[a] have for his servant?”

³ Abram fell facedown,^(A) and God said to him,

²⁵ As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. ²⁶ But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”^(A)

God’s Angel to Prepare the Way

²⁰ “See, I am sending an angel^(A) ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.^{(B) 21} Pay attention to him and listen^(C) to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive^(D) your rebellion,^(E) since my Name^(F) is in him. ²² If you listen carefully to what he says and do^(G) all that I say, I will be an enemy^(H) to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

¹⁰ At this I fell at his feet to worship him.^(A) But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!^(B) For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”^(C)

The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

¹¹ I saw heaven standing open^(D) and there before me was a white horse, whose rider^(E) is called Faithful and True.^(F) With justice he judges and wages war.^{(G) 12} His eyes are like blazing fire,^(H) and on his head are many crowns.^(I) He has a name written on him^(J) that no one knows but he himself.^{(K) 13} He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood,^(L) and his name is the Word of God.^{(M) 14} The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,^(N) white^(O) and clean.

¹³ But the prince^(A) of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael,^(B) one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.
