⁴ Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits^[a](A) between you and the ark; do not go near it.”

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken,^(A) let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,^{(B) 29} for our “God is a consuming fire.”^[a](C)

² In the past, even while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns.^(A) And the Lord your God said to you, ‘You will shepherd^(B) my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.^(C)’”

⁵ “Do not come any closer,”^(A) God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”^(B)

¹² Put limits^(A) for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death.

¹⁰ Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”^(A)
