17 for the Lord our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way that we went and among all the people through whom we passed.

Yet I (C)destroyed his fruit above
And his roots beneath.
10 Also it was (D)I who brought you up from the land of Egypt,
And (E)led you forty years through the wilderness,
To possess the land of the Amorite.

God’s Mercy Remembered

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord
And the praises of the Lord,
According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us,
And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,
According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.
For He said, “Surely they are My people,
Children who will not lie.”
So He became their Savior.
(A)In all their affliction He was [a]afflicted,
(B)And the Angel of His Presence saved them;
(C)In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;
And (D)He bore them and carried them
All the days of old.
10 But they (E)rebelled and (F)grieved His Holy Spirit;
(G)So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,
And He fought against them.

11 Then he (H)remembered the days of old,
Moses and his people, saying:
“Where is He who (I)brought them up out of the sea
With the [b]shepherd of His flock?
(J)Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,
12 Who led them by the right hand of Moses,
(K)With His glorious arm,
(L)Dividing the water before them
To make for Himself an everlasting name,
13 (M)Who led them through the deep,
As a horse in the wilderness,
That they might not stumble?”

14 As a beast goes down into the valley,
And the Spirit of the Lord causes him to rest,
So You lead Your people,
(N)To make Yourself a glorious name.

(A)Also I sent Moses and Aaron, and (B)I plagued Egypt, according to what I did among them. Afterward I brought you out.

‘Then I (C)brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea; and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. So they cried out to the Lord; and He put (D)darkness between you and the Egyptians, brought the sea upon them, and covered them. And (E)your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. Then you dwelt in the wilderness (F)a long time. And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt on the other side of the Jordan, (G)and they fought with you. But I gave them into your hand, that you might possess their land, and I destroyed them from before you. Then (H)Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and (I)sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you. 10 (J)But I would not listen to Balaam; (K)therefore he continued to bless you. So I delivered you out of his hand. 11 Then (L)you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And (M)the men of Jericho fought against you—also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand. 12 (N)I sent the hornet before you which drove them out from before you, also the two kings of the Amorites, but (O)not with your sword or with your bow. 13 I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and (P)cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’

14 (Q)“Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in (R)sincerity and in truth, and (S)put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of [a]the River and (T)in Egypt. Serve the Lord!

And there was no foreign god with him.
