¹¹ Be very careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God.

⁵ Take good care to observe the commandment and instruction that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, and to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”^(A)

⁵ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.^{(A) 6} Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. ⁷ Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.^{(B) 8} Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem^[a] on your forehead,^{(C) 9} and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.^(D)

Caution against Disobedience

¹⁰ “When the Lord your God has brought you into the land that he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—a land with fine, large cities that you did not build,^{(E) 11} houses filled with all sorts of goods that you did not fill, hewn cisterns that you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and when you have eaten your fill,^{(F) 12} take care that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

²⁰ But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit;^{(A) 21} keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to^[a] eternal life.^(B)

¹⁵ See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble and through it many become defiled.^(A)

²² Let anyone be accursed who has no love for the Lord. Our Lord, come!^[a](A)

³ but anyone who loves God is known by him.^(A)

²⁸ We know that all things work together^[a] for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.^(A)

⁶ but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation^[a] of those who love me and keep my commandments.^(A)
