¹¹ So be very careful^(A) to love the Lord^(B) your God.

⁵ But be very careful to keep the commandment^(A) and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord^(B) your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands,^(C) to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.^(D)”

⁵ Love^(A) the Lord your God with all your heart^(B) and with all your soul and with all your strength.^{(C) 6} These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.^{(D) 7} Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.^{(E) 8} Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.^{(F) 9} Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.^(G)

¹⁰ When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build,^{(H) 11} houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig,^(I) and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied,^{(J) 12} be careful that you do not forget^(K) the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

²⁰ But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up^(A) in your most holy faith^(B) and praying in the Holy Spirit,^{(C) 21} keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait^(D) for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.^(E)

¹⁵ See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God^(A) and that no bitter root^(B) grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

²² If anyone does not love the Lord,^(A) let that person be cursed!^(B) Come, Lord^[a]!^(C)

³ But whoever loves God is known by God.^[a](A)

²⁸ And we know that in all things God works for the good^(A) of those who love him, who^[a] have been called^(B) according to his purpose.^(C)
