⁹ So the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the Israelites at Shiloh^(A) in Canaan to return to Gilead,^(B) their own land, which they had acquired in accordance with the command of the Lord through Moses.

²⁹ He said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites, every man armed for battle, cross over the Jordan with you before the Lord, then when the land is subdued before you,^(A) you must give them the land of Gilead as their possession.^(B)

²⁶ Our children and wives, our flocks and herds will remain here in the cities of Gilead.^(A)

The Transjordan Tribes

32 The Reubenites and Gadites, who had very large herds and flocks,^(A) saw that the lands of Jazer^(B) and Gilead^(C) were suitable for livestock.^(D)

¹⁵ And I gave Gilead to Makir.^{(A) 16} But to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory extending from Gilead down to the Arnon Gorge (the middle of the gorge being the border) and out to the Jabbok River,^(B) which is the border of the Ammonites.
