¹¹ Now the children of Israel ^(A)heard someone say, “Behold, the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have built an altar on the ^[a]frontier of the land of Canaan, in the region of the Jordan—on the children of Israel’s side.”

^12 (A)“If you hear someone in one of your cities, which the Lord your God gives you to dwell in, saying, ^13 [a]‘Corrupt men have gone out from among you and enticed the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods” ’—which you have not known— ¹⁴ then you shall inquire, search out, and ask diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an ^[b]abomination was committed among you,

²⁸ These things were done ^(A)in ^[a]Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

⁷ Then the men pursued them by the road to the Jordan, to the fords. And as soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.

⁵ “But you shall seek the ^(A)place where the Lord your God chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His name for His ^(B)dwelling^[a] place; and there you shall go. ^6 (C)There you shall take your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the heave offerings of your hand, your vowed offerings, your freewill offerings, and the ^(D)firstborn of your herds and flocks. ⁷ And ^(E)there you shall eat before the Lord your God, and ^(F)you shall rejoice in ^[b]all to which you have put your hand, you and your households, in which the Lord your God has blessed you.

⁸ “Also you shall say to them: ‘Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, ^(A)who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, ⁹ and does not ^(B)bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to offer it to the Lord, that man shall be ^[a]cut off from among his people.

The Empty Tomb^(A)
