⁵⁵ They were given Hebron in Judah with its surrounding pasturelands. ⁵⁶ But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.^(B)

⁵⁷ So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), and Libnah,^[a](C) Jattir,^(D) Eshtemoa, ⁵⁸ Hilen, Debir,^{(E) 59} Ashan,^(F) Juttah^[b] and Beth Shemesh, together with their pasturelands. ⁶⁰ And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon,^[c] Geba, Alemeth and Anathoth,^(G) together with their pasturelands.

The total number of towns distributed among the Kohathite clans came to thirteen.

¹¹ They gave them Kiriath Arba^(A) (that is, Hebron^(B)), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.) ¹² But the fields and villages around the city they had given to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.^(C)

¹³ So to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron (a city of refuge^(D) for one accused of murder), Libnah,^{(E) 14} Jattir,^(F) Eshtemoa,^{(G) 15} Holon,^(H) Debir,^{(I) 16} Ain,^(J) Juttah^(K) and Beth Shemesh,^(L) together with their pasturelands—nine towns from these two tribes.

¹⁷ And from the tribe of Benjamin they gave them Gibeon,^(M) Geba,^{(N) 18} Anathoth^(O) and Almon, together with their pasturelands—four towns.
