32 More than for (A)Jazer I weep for you,
    (B)O vine of (C)Sibmah!
(D)Your branches passed over the sea,
    reached to the Sea of (E)Jazer;
on your summer fruits and your grapes
    the destroyer has fallen.

For the fields of Heshbon languish,
    and (A)the vine of Sibmah;
the lords of the nations
    have struck down its branches,
which reached to Jazer
    and strayed to the desert;
its shoots spread abroad
    and passed over the sea.
Therefore (B)I weep with (C)the weeping of Jazer
    for the vine of Sibmah;
I drench you with my tears,
    O Heshbon and Elealeh;
for over (D)your summer fruit and your harvest
    the shout has ceased.

26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and taken all his land out of his hand, as far as the Arnon. 27 Therefore the (A)ballad singers say,

“Come to (B)Heshbon, let it be built;
    let the city of Sihon be established.
28 For (C)fire came out from (D)Heshbon,
    flame from the city of Sihon.
It devoured (E)Ar of Moab,
    and swallowed[a] the heights of the Arnon.
29 (F)Woe to you, O Moab!
    You are undone, O people of (G)Chemosh!
He has made his sons fugitives,
    and his daughters captives,
    to an Amorite king, Sihon.
30 So we overthrew them;
    Heshbon, as far as (H)Dibon, perished;
    and we laid waste as far as Nophah;
    fire spread as far as (I)Medeba.”[b]
