¹⁹ So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be ^[a]guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, ^(A)his ^[b]blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him.

³¹ Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”

⁶ But ^(A)when they opposed him and blasphemed, ^(B)he shook his garments and said to them, ^(C)“Your blood be upon your own heads; ^(D)I am clean. ^(E)From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

⁴ then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does ^(A)not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, ^(B)his blood shall be on his own head. ⁵ He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will ^[a]save his life.

Shimei Executed

³⁶ Then the king sent and called for ^(A)Shimei, and said to him, “Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and dwell there, and do not go out from there anywhere. ³⁷ For it shall be, on the day you go out and cross ^(B)the Brook Kidron, know for certain you shall surely die; ^(C)your ^[a]blood shall be on your own head.”

³⁸ And Shimei said to the king, “The saying is good. As my lord the king has said, so your servant will do.” So Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.

³⁹ Now it happened at the end of three years, that two slaves of Shimei ran away to ^(D)Achish the son of Maachah, king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, “Look, your slaves are in Gath!” ⁴⁰ So Shimei arose, saddled his donkey, and went to Achish at Gath to seek his slaves. And Shimei went and brought his slaves from Gath. ⁴¹ And Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and had come back. ⁴² Then the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, “Did I not make you swear by the Lord, and warn you, saying, ‘Know for certain that on the day you go out and travel anywhere, you shall surely die’? And you said to me, ‘The word I have heard is good.’

^23 (A)For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the ^(B)blood on the ^[a]lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and ^(C)not allow ^(D)the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

¹³ Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

²⁷ But the ^(A)anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and ^(B)you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing ^(C)teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you ^[a]will abide in Him.

The Children of God

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him, that ^[b]when He appears, we may have ^(D)confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

^29 (A)Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, ^(B)counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, ^(C)and insulted the Spirit of grace?
