⁸ Then the men arose to go away; and Joshua charged those who went to ^[a]survey the land, saying, “Go, walk ^(A)through the land, survey it, and come back to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shiloh.”

^19 (A)Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which ^(B)one may ^[a]edify another.

¹⁰ Then Joshua cast ^(A)lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord, and there ^(B)Joshua divided the land to the children of Israel according to their ^[a]divisions.

²⁴ And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, ^(A)who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen ^25 (B)to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” ²⁶ And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

⁴¹ Therefore Saul said to the Lord God of Israel, ^(A)“Give^[a] a perfect lot.” ^(B)So Saul and Jonathan were taken, but the people escaped.

⁶ You shall therefore ^[a]survey the land in seven parts and bring the survey here to me, ^(A)that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

The Remainder of the Land Divided

18 Now the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together ^(A)at Shiloh, and ^(B)set up the tabernacle of meeting there. And the land was subdued before them.

The Land of Judah

15 So this was the ^[a]lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families:

^(A)The border of Edom at the ^(B)Wilderness of Zin southward was the extreme southern boundary.

The Land Divided West of the Jordan

14 These are the areas which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, ^(A)which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel distributed as an inheritance to them. ² Their inheritance was ^(B)by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.
