²² Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,

⁴ Then Abijah stood on the slope of Mount Zemaraim that is in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Listen to me, Jeroboam and all Israel!^(A)

²⁹ He set one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.^{(A) 30} And this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one at Bethel and before the other as far as Dan.^{[a](B) 31} He also made houses^[b] on high places and appointed priests from among all the people who were not Levites.^{(C) 32} Jeroboam appointed a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like the festival that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar; so he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.^(D)

¹⁸ and passing on to the north of the slope of Beth-arabah^[a] it goes down to the Arabah;

⁶ and the boundary goes up to Beth-hoglah and passes along north of Beth-arabah; and the boundary goes up to the Stone of Bohan, Reuben’s son;^(A)
