¹⁴ And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak, ^(A)Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.

^20 (A)And Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it ^(B)the three sons of Anak.

^10 (A)And Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron ^(B)(now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba), and they defeated ^(C)Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

²¹ And Joshua came at that time and cut off ^(A)the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction with their cities.

²² They went up into ^(A)the Negeb and came to ^(B)Hebron. ^(C)Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the ^(D)descendants of Anak, were there. (^(E)Hebron was built seven years before ^(F)Zoan in Egypt.) ²³ And ^(G)they came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs.

³⁶ Then Joshua and all Israel with him went up from Eglon to ^(A)Hebron. And they fought against it ³⁷ and captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword, and its king and its towns, and every person in it. He left none remaining, as he had done to Eglon, and devoted it to destruction and every person in it.

³³ And there we saw the ^(A)Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the ^(B)Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves ^(C)like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”
