²⁶ and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir,

²⁷ Now it happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that ^(A)Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, ^(B)Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and ^(C)Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim,

Ishbosheth Made King of Israel

⁸ But ^(A)Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul’s army, took ^[a]Ishbosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to ^(B)Mahanaim;

³ And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that ^(A)Ramoth in Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”

⁴ So the king said to him, “Where is he?”

And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of ^(A)Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”

⁵ Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.

Jephthah’s Vow and Victory

²⁹ Then ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh, and passed through Mizpah of Gilead; and from Mizpah of Gilead he advanced toward the people of Ammon.

¹¹ Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him ^(A)head and commander over them; and Jephthah spoke all his words ^(B)before the Lord in Mizpah.

¹⁷ Then the people of Ammon gathered together and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled together and encamped in ^(A)Mizpah.

³⁸ and from the tribe of Gad, ^(A)Ramoth in Gilead with its common-land (a city of refuge for the slayer), Mahanaim with its common-land,

⁸ And on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they assigned ^(A)Bezer in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Reuben, ^(B)Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and ^(C)Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.
