²⁶ and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from ^(A)Mahanaim to the territory of Debir,^[a]

²⁷ When David came to Mahanaim, ^(A)Shobi the son of Nahash from ^(B)Rabbah of the Ammonites, and ^(C)Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo-debar, and ^(D)Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim,

Ish-bosheth Made King of Israel

⁸ But ^(A)Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul's army, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to ^(B)Mahanaim,

³ And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that ^(A)Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, and we keep quiet and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”

⁴ The king said to him, “Where is he?” And Ziba said to the king, “He is in the house of ^(A)Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar.” ⁵ Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar.

Jephthah's Tragic Vow

^29 (A)Then the Spirit of the Lord was upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh and passed on to Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed on to the Ammonites.

¹¹ So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people ^(A)made him head and leader over them. And Jephthah spoke all his words ^(B)before the Lord at ^(C)Mizpah.

¹⁷ Then the Ammonites were called to arms, and they encamped in Gilead. And the people of Israel came together, and they encamped at ^(A)Mizpah.

³⁸ and out of the tribe of Gad, ^(A)Ramoth in Gilead with its pasturelands, the city of refuge for the manslayer, ^(B)Mahanaim with its pasturelands,

⁸ And beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, they appointed ^(A)Bezer in the wilderness on the tableland, from the tribe of Reuben, and ^(B)Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and ^(C)Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.
