¹² all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, who remained of ^(A)the remnant of the giants; ^(B)for Moses had ^[a]defeated and ^[b]cast out these.

⁴ The other king was ^(A)Og king of Bashan and his territory, who was of ^(B)the remnant of the giants, ^(C)who dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

^3 (A)For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them. ⁴ For ^(B)the children of Joseph were two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. And they gave no part to the Levites in the land, except ^(C)cities to dwell in, with their common-lands for their livestock and their property.

^10 (A)all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and ^(B)all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

^11 (C)“For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of ^(D)the ^[a]giants. Indeed his bedstead was an iron bedstead. (Is it not in ^(E)Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit.

^23 (A)But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. So Sihon gathered all his people together and ^[a]went out against Israel in the wilderness, ^(B)and he came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. ²⁴ Then ^(C)Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon; for the border of the people of Ammon was fortified. ²⁵ So Israel took all these cities, and Israel ^(D)dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all its villages. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore those who speak in ^[b]proverbs say:

³¹ Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. ³² Then Moses sent to ^[c]spy out ^(N)Jazer; and they took its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there.

King Og Defeated^(O)

^33 (P)And they turned and went up by the way to ^(Q)Bashan. So Og king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle ^(R)at Edrei. ³⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(S)“Do not fear him, for I have ^[d]delivered him into your hand, with all his people and his land; and ^(T)you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.” ^35 (U)So they defeated him, his sons, and all his people, until there was no survivor left him; and they took possession of his land.
