⁴ So they went out, they and all their armies with them, as many people ^(A)as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.

¹² Now the Midianites and Amalekites, ^(A)all the people of the East, were lying in the valley ^(B)as numerous as locusts; and their camels were ^[a]without number, as the sand by the seashore in multitude.

⁵ Then the Philistines gathered together to fight with Israel, ^[a]thirty thousand chariots and six thousand horsemen, and people ^(A)as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude. And they came up and encamped in Michmash, to the east of ^(B)Beth Aven.

¹² For ^(A)You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the ^(B)sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’ ”

¹⁷ blessing I will ^(A)bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants ^(B)as the stars of the heaven ^(C)and as the sand which is on the seashore; and ^(D)your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.

²⁰ Judah and Israel were as numerous ^(A)as the sand by the sea in multitude, ^(B)eating and drinking and rejoicing.

¹¹ Therefore I advise that all Israel be fully gathered to you, ^(A)from Dan to Beersheba, ^(B)like the sand that is by the sea for multitude, and that you go to battle in person.
