¹⁴ And all the spoil of these cities and the livestock, the people of Israel took for their plunder. But every person they struck with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, and they did not leave any who breathed.

¹¹ And they struck with the sword all who were in it, devoting them to destruction;^{[a] (A)}there was none left that breathed. And he burned Hazor with fire.

⁴⁰ So Joshua struck the whole land, the hill country and the Negeb and the lowland ^(A)and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, ^(B)but devoted to destruction all that breathed, just as the Lord God of Israel commanded.

²⁷ Only the livestock and the spoil of that city Israel took as their plunder, according to the word of the Lord that he ^(A)commanded Joshua.

^14 (A)but the women and the little ones, the livestock, and everything else in the city, all its spoil, you ^(B)shall take as plunder for yourselves. And ^(C)you shall enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you.

¹⁰ “And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities ^(A)that you did not build, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full,

^11 (A)and took all the spoil and all the plunder, both of man and of beast. ¹² Then they brought the captives and the plunder and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the people of Israel, at the camp on ^(B)the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.

⁹ And the people of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones, and they took as plunder all their cattle, their flocks, and all their goods.
