⁴ “Come up to me and help me, and let us strike Gibeon. For ^(A)it has made peace with Joshua and with the people of Israel.”

¹⁵ And Joshua ^(A)made peace with them and made a covenant with them, to let them live, and the leaders of the congregation swore to them.

The Sun Stands Still

10 As soon as Adoni-zedek, king of Jerusalem, heard how Joshua had captured Ai and had devoted it to destruction,^{[a] (A)}doing to Ai and its king ^(B)as he had done to Jericho and its king, and ^(C)how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them,

⁸ and will come out ^(A)to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, ^(B)Gog and Magog, ^(C)to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. ⁹ And ^(D)they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded ^(E)the camp of the saints and ^(F)the beloved city, but ^(G)fire came down from heaven^[a] and consumed them, ¹⁰ and the devil ^(H)who had deceived them was ^(I)thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where ^(J)the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

¹⁴ For they are ^(A)demonic spirits, ^(B)performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, ^(C)to assemble them for battle on ^(D)the great day of God the Almighty.

⁴ With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of ^(A)debauchery, and ^(B)they malign you;

^4 (A)You adulterous people!^[a] Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? ^(B)Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

¹² Indeed, all who desire to ^(A)live a godly life in Christ Jesus ^(B)will be persecuted,

²⁸ crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who ^(A)is teaching everyone everywhere against the people and ^(B)the law and ^(C)this place. Moreover, he even brought Greeks into the temple and ^(D)has defiled ^(E)this holy place.”
