“Sun, stand still over Gibeon,
    and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.^(B)”

¹¹ Sun and moon stood still^(A) in the heavens
    at the glint of your flying arrows,^(B)
    at the lightning^(C) of your flashing spear.

²⁰ Your sun^(A) will never set again,
    and your moon will wane no more;
the Lord will be your everlasting light,
    and your days of sorrow^(B) will end.

²¹ The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim,^(A)
    he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon^(B)—
to do his work,^(C) his strange work,
    and perform his task, his alien task.

³ Praise him, sun^(A) and moon;
    praise him, all you shining stars.

²⁶ if I have regarded the sun^(A) in its radiance
    or the moon^(B) moving in splendor,
²⁷ so that my heart was secretly enticed^(C)
    and my hand offered them a kiss of homage,^(D)

¹³ So the sun stood still,^(A)
    and the moon stopped,
    till the nation avenged itself on^[a] its enemies,
